To Yoongi, Jin was an angel and devil simultaneously. While Jin went on and on about how Yoongi should start eating more, he contemplated just that. How could be so annoyed at someone who was giving up so much to make sure he lived a healthy life?

"I get it, hyung. It's seven and we need to get to the common room before Namjoon yells at us. It'll be worse 'cause it's the first day."

"And that's another thing! We're the hyungs!"

Yoongi smiled and dragged him out of their dorm room. Neither were excited about new students because it was always the same story. They thought they could bad boy their way through this school but they'd only fail miserably. 'Seoul's Private School for Delinquents' was dipshit-proof - not even Yoongi made it through the first year without shaping up.

The common room was tidy enough - an electronic fireplace, a dozen chairs and a few couches, paintings - some done by students, others by professional artists - and a few trinkets here and there. There were two small tables on each side of the room as well.

Also in their common room, two fresh-faced students sat on a couch playing rock paper scissors half-heartedly.

"Why are you up early?" Jin asked.

"To impress Namjoon-hyung," Taehyung replied, not missing a beat.

Yoongi scoffed and sat down next to the pair. "Where is he anyways?"

"Here," Namjoon said tiredly, coming down to join the others. "By the way, Hoseok's rooming with the new kid."

Jimin frowned. "Kid? There's only one new student?"

"For our house, yeah. It's cool though, I don't have to deal with two little demons like last time," he said, raising his brows at Jimin and Taehyung who looked away embarrassedly.

They were a handful, Yoongi thought. And I wasn't even in charge of them.

Yoongi looked off to where Hoseok and the new kid's room was, surprised he hadn't seen him earlier. Maybe he had passed him quickly and he hadn't paid much mind to him. He tended to do that. But something plagued him, a question that could only be answered when-

Then Namjoon smiled. "He's taller than you if you're wondering, hyung."

Yoongi slumped into the chair, folding his arms childishly.

Jin rubbed his back. "One day, you'll find someone shorter than you."

"But today is not that day!" Hoseok cried, running down the stairs to make his grand (and quite unnecessarily loud) entrance. He pulled alongside him a tall boy with dark hair who looked scared out of his wits.

Yoongi assessed him with a raised brow. He didn't look like a delinquent at all. His hair fell neatly onto his forehead and his doe eyes glistened in the dim light of the common room. He wrung his hands together nervously and Yoongi couldn't help but admire them. They just looked... nice. So that was his assessment: the new kid had nice hands.

Jungkook tried not to panic at the sight of the unnervingly clean common room and five pairs of eyes trained solely on him. He fidgeted under their gaze, shifting from foot to foot. He breathed deeply, bowed slightly and said almost robotically, "Hello. I'm Jungkook. Please take care of me."

There was pure silence and Namjoon rolled his eyes.

Jimin was the first to snap out of it. He jumped up and outstretched his hand. "Jimin. Nice to meet you."

They took turns introducing themselves and then all eyes were on Yoongi. Jin winced slightly, hoping he wouldn't be as rude to Jungkook as he was to Jimin and Taehyung during their first year. He'd been completely silent during their introductions so Jin immediately assumed he had something planned.

Instead, Jin saw that Yoongi's head was now tilted in slight confusion as he took Jungkook's hand and said plainly, "Yoongi."

Jungkook smiled and Yoongi thought it was weirdly beautiful. "Nice to meet you."

A few moments later, they were in their separate rooms, changing into their uniforms. Yoongi was dazed as he slowly put on his shoes. Jin knew something was up but after the previous night, he thought it would be best to leave him to his thoughts before barging in and taking full parental control.

Yoongi was the one to break the silence. "I don't think it's him."

Jin smiled. "Okay. But he will come in due time, Yoongs."

The hall where all students were due to meet up was not far from their dorm and so they had decided to walk together. Namjoon was teaching Jungkook about the school rules and expectations and Yoongi slowed his pace to study the new kid more intently. He wouldn't be lying if he said that Jungkook gave seriously familiar vibes. The younger seemed to be staring at him as well. People normally did. He was too pale to be healthy.

It was awkward in the hall too. Yoongi picked at his food, drowning in his own thoughts while Jungkook simply stared. finally, he leaned into Hoseok.

"Is he sick?" he asked, motioning to Yoongi.

Hoseok frowned, confused. "Who? Yoongi-hyung? No."

"He looks really pale. Does he eat well?"

"No... but he tries to. Jin-hyung can be really stubborn about it."

Jungkook asked no further questions. He watched as Yoongi finally took a bite of his food and swallowed with difficulty.

Jungkook was just glad he made friends by the end of the day. He was separated from the others after breakfast but followed Namjoon's instruction to follow the other first-years. Amongst the bustling crowd, he bumped into a freakishly tall boy who introduced himself as Yugyeom. Later, he met BamBam - whose real name was too difficult to remember and pronounce - in his maths class. He had meant to throw a paper plane at the teacher but it hit Jungkook instead. Both of them clicked

During lunch, he sat with the Bangtan House again. Yoongi stared at him a little longer and he did the same. This time, Yoongi ate properly and the pallidness seemed to calm down after he did.

"Why do you keep staring at me?" Yoongi asked quietly.

"You stare at me."

Yoongi blushed. "You look familiar, that's all."

Jungkook frowned. "You too."

Before they could continue what they were saying, the bell rang and they had to leave for classes.

That night, in his bed, Yoongi couldn't help but relive it all again. He tried so hard to imagine it - this new kid Jungkook being the one who pulled him out of the car. He kept glancing at Jin who slept soundly. The previous night he'd been so sure that what Jin had said about fate was a pile of 'I'm your friend and trying to cheer you up' bullshit. But now, with Jungkook's face in mind, he couldn't help but rethink his statement from earlier in the day.

Perhaps... he should sleep on it.
