Alexandria fell to the ground, her notebook papers falling and sliding across the ground. Fighting back tears, Alex started to stand back up when she felt rough hands shove her back to the ground.
"Such an ugly bitch like you doesn't deserve to live," a familiar voice spat.
A sharp kick was blown to her left side. Alex flinched and clenched her jaw as she felt a tear glide down her cheek.
"Oh look, the whore is crying," the harsh voice named Dante said.
Dante and his side kicks laughed and the sound seemed to echo through Alex's brain. Pain slowly spread from her left side and it felt like it was enveloping her.
"HEY! GET OUT OF HERE YOU SON OF A BITCH!" exclaimed a smooth voice.
"L-lizzy?" Alex asked tearfully.
"Are you okay, Alex?!" said Alex's crush and best friend.
Lizzy, short for Elizabeth, offered her soft hand to help Alex up. Alex felt her stomach flutter as their hands touched.
"Yeah, I am now," Alex said.
"Don't listen to what they say. They are nobodys," Lizzy said soothingly as she picked up the notebook papers off the floor and handed them to Alex.
Alex felt her cheeks get warm as Lizzy's blue eyes connected with Alex's own green ones.
"Th-thank you." Alex stuttered.
"C'mon, lets go to class."

*Lizzy's point of view*

I am going to kill Dante and his little 'friends'! Lizzy thought. She settled into her seat next to Alex. She noticed Alex flinch in pain as she sat.
"Are you okay?" Lizzy asked, worried.
"Yeah."
Not convinced, Lizzy opened her mouth to say more, but was interrupted by Mrs. Barnett, their strict English teacher.
"Late again, girls," she said in her retillian voice.
"That's three tardies in a row. You know what that means," Mrs. Barnett said with her hands on her pointy hips, looming over Alex.
"What is your excuse this time?" she said to Alex with a slight sneer.
"It was all me!" Lizzy blurted out. "M-m-my locker wouldn't open, and Alex helped me open it to get my stuff."
Mrs. Barnett narrowed her eyes, knowing Lizzy was lying.
"Did I ask you to speak?" she demanded.
"No," was the simple answer she gave.
Mrs. Barnett's pursed her lips, her expression resembling a child that bit into a lemon.
"Detention. After school. Both of you," Mrs. Barnett stiffly said, slamming a detention slip onto each desk. She looked like she was going to explode any second. Lizzy and Alex gave eachother a sideways glance.

*Time Skip*

Lizzy and Alex walked together to their next class, since they were down the same hall.
"I wonder why Mrs. Barnett is always so rude," Alex asked.
"I don't know. Maybe she is going through something bad, like her husband dying or something. Still, that's no reason to take it out on students..," Lizzy replied.
"Yeah. Well, this is my stop. See you after class," Alex said, grabbing Lizzy's hand and squeezing it before entering her classroom. The feeling of Alex's hand on hers rejuvenated through Lizzy. The smell of Alex lingered in the air, and Lizzy could feel her own heart beating in her chest. After standing there for a bit, she decided to hurry to class before she was late, but the thought of Alex didn't leave her mind.

*time skip*(after school was over for the day and they were walking to detention)

*Alex's point of view*

I cannot take this anymore. I have to tell Lizzy I love her. It's killing me that we are nothing more than friends. I wish she could be mine forever. But what if she doesn't love me back?! What if I wierd her out and she doesn't even want to be friends anymore? No. Ill tell her anyways. I have to... Alex thought to herself.
"Whatcha thinking about?" Lizzy asked.
"Uh...just...um..," Alex stammered, "I.. Just have s-something to tell you..."
Alex regretted saying it the minute it left her lips.
"I have something to tell you too..," Lizzy said, "But you first."
"I-I... Might... Sorta..." Alex felt like her brain abandoned her as their eyes locked. "The truth is..."
"Yes?" Lizzy asked.
"I love you! I have ever since middle school and even if you don't love me back I will always love you!" Alex exclaimed, the words she has wanted to say for a long time falling off her tongue like a waterfall. Alex averted her eyes, afraid of what she would say.
"Th-that's exactly what I going to say to you," Lizzy said, "I love you, too!" Lizzy reached out her tender hand and lifted Alex's face to look into her eyes.
"I have always loved you."
Alex felt like she was going to both explode and melt to the floor all at the same time. Her heart felt like it was doing backflips in her chest. Lizzy pulled Alex close and kissed her softly on the lips. Alex closed her eyes and kissed her back, relishing the beautiful moment. For once, everything was going her way. For that moment, it was just Lizzy and Alex. Just them.
