"I'm Okay."

She stood alone,

leg perked against the wall,

neck tilted so far back,

so far gone.

A token of death in one hand,

her cigarette

in the other, a blank sheet-

or so it seemed, from ten meters away.

Her hair wrapped around her,

a bracket against the blanket of the sky

gold glistening in the pale night,

faded from the smoke.

In her eyes, tears began to emerge,

she quickly wiped them away,

but her lips,

her lips were pulled tight in a grin,

almost as though she was masking her sadness, in the dark

lying to herself,

when no one else was around.
