Rondeau: While Death does Walk
©2017, Olan L. Smith
______
While death does walk to crawl my skin,
Has death my father come to sin,
Or make my heart delete, and when
Its thub-dub halts and ceases beat,
My body floats above again.
______
The curtain breaks, is death so thin,
And life is lost this morning when
I woke and lived, I did not greet
While death does walk.
______
Is death my dread, or's death a win?
Ascends upon my breast and then
To touch my heart, and does deplete
My force, my body flesh and meat.
Whose burden cares for flesh and skin,
While death does walk.
(Artwork by Olan Smith, 2013. The artwork is an imitation of Picasso's piece, titled "Death Mask." He produced this work using crayon, and it was the last of his self portraits that he drew in 1973, the year of his death.) My work above is totally freehand using Psykopaint, an online painting platform.)
