Reaching for a Heart

         "Grave danger...grave danger!  It's because of you they are in that mess in the first place!"

"Me?  Please do explain how it is my fault Lucy...I am curious to know."

I ran up and shoved Scarlet against the wall.  I glared at her as I gritted my teeth in rage.  This was the girl who helped ruin my perfect life.  Just hearing her voice made me want to kill her in the worst ways possible.

"It's all your fault...if you never attacked us that night on the bridge Axel wouldn't have had to disappear for a whole week!  I wouldn't have been tricked by your damn brother's lies and he would probably be dead right now.  No...because Axel had to tackle you off the bridge to save us he was gone.  During that time I didn't know what happened to him and I had assumed the worst.  Then imagine how I felt when he came back without nearly a scratch on him.  I was happy and didn't care that he was wearing different clothes and seemed completely ok.  Then the day came when your brother attacked us...how he murdered my sister and then tricked me into attacking Axel.  All because he used that gap of a mystery as to where Axel had been during that week he was missing!"

Scarlet just gazed at me as I shouted at her.  I saw her reach up and she grabbed onto my wrists squeezing them and pushing my arms away from her.  I made a move to knee her in her injury but she dodged and quickly spun around me and slammed me against the wall. 

"Hey get off of her!"  Olivia shouted as she ran up to hit her but Scarlet simply kicked her away and twisted my arm a little.

"Really Lucy...your going to make me the monster here."

Scarlet pulled me away and she threw me onto the ground.  I glared up at her as I went to get up but a sharp kick to my side brought me back down.

"As I said I did not come to fight.  As for your flawed statement let me correct you.  Yes I do take guilt in for attacking you and I admit having Axel gone must have been horrible for you.  However it's you who is at fault and the reason why they are in danger now."

"Shut up you don't know anything!"

I went to kick her in her side to hit her injury but she easily caught my foot with her metal arm.  I felt the pain as she slowly began to twist it as if she was going to break my ankle.  I shouted in pain and reached to pull my leg away from her.

"Listen here Lucy, your the one who allowed yourself to be tricked by my brother.  You who is supposed to trust and love your boyfriend and listen to his words more than some stranger who killed someone you cared about.  You were the one who attacked Axel that day, you were the one who nearly crippled him, blinded him in one eye, and ripped off his entire right arm!"

Scarlet twisted a bit more causing tears to drip down my cheeks from the pain.

"You easily allowed your heart to be toyed with and for that you tried to kill the one guy who opened your heart.  The guy who fought to show you that he loved you no matter who you were in the past.  Yes I may be able to break his body...but you were the one who broke his heart."

Scarlet released my foot and I brought it back holding my ankle as I closed my eyes and sobbed from the memories of that day.

"I want to take it back...I was lost and hurt...I betrayed him and now...I lost the man that I love...and my little sister!"

Olivia rushed over to me and she held me in her arms.

"Who do you think you are!  Making her feel like this won't help anyone.  Not after she was starting to accept what she had done and planned to make up for it!"

"Accepting it is only part of the recovery.  Lucy needs to understand what she really did.  You saw and heard her try to blame me for something I am not capable of.  Yes through your actions you lost the two most important people in your life right now.  That's why I'm here Lucy...I want to help you get them back."
