Gilbert's POV

"Gilbert!" Upon hearing his name, his head shot up to look at the source. He quickly hid the picture he was looking at, shoving it into his jacket pocket. A picture of you that he carried around with him. A picture that gave him hope when the whole world seemed to be against him. It was the thing that pushed him to keep fighting.

"Ja?" He asked, looking at the normally happy-go-lucky Italian made his way towards him. He was back at the house, having been forced back by Kevin. The annoying little twerp had stopped him from finding you. Why though? He had the best chance of finding you after all. If he just followed the pain, let the feeling get stronger, the he'd be able to find you. But no, Kevin wouldn't let him. Not until he healed.

Gilbert's wound was still healing. Normally it would have healed by now. But Gilbert knew his greatest fear was coming to life. He could feel it. His country was growing weaker, his country was going to fade. When, Gilbert didn't know. All he knew was he had to find you and make sure no one found out that he was growing weaker.

It never once occurred to Gilbert that the reason he didn't heal as quickly was that you weren't in the best shape. Never had he had a Scar Holder that went through as much as you did. Never had he had a Scar Holder on the brink of death. Not that you still were, but you had been. The whole ties between Scar Holders and the countries was still a mystery to most. No one knew exactly all of the things about their special bonds.

"Germany is finally up." Feliciano said, unable to keep the smile off his face. Feliciano was the type of person to smile at any good news that came his way. It didn't matter if it involved him or not. If it was good news, a smile would be on his face, even when most of the world seemed to be filled with bad news.

"I thought he was already up." Gilbert said. He had gone over this with you the day before he was stabbed and you have yourself up to protect him.

"No, he's up and walking!" Feliciano said practically jumping for joy. Before Gilbert knew what was happening, Feliciano grabbed his arm and started to pull him through the house. Although Gilbert made no attempt to pull away, he couldn't help but notice that the Italian was stronger than he seemed to be.

"Bruder!" Gilbert called upon seeing his brother up and walking around. He pulled away from Feli then and ran to his brother. He couldn't help but hug him, tightly at that. It was so good to see his brother up and out of bed.

Ludwig hugged Gilbert back, although it took him a second to get over the shock that he was being hugged. He hadn't seen Gilbert come into the room. All he knew was one second he was by himself, and the next he was being hugged. For once, Ludwig really didn't mind it.

The fact that Ludwig was almost fully recovered brightened his day. Now if he could only get you back and make sure you were okay. Then everything would be alright.

Except for the fact that there was a war that still needed to end.

Gilbert had forgotten about the war. Even if he was surrounded by survivors of the Berlin Bombing. He had just been so caught up in the fact that you were missing and Ludwig was recovering that he had forgotten. He had forgotten until that moment.

He pulled away from Ludwig, and looked up at his younger brother. Gilbert's eyes were wide. He could believe he had forgotten. How does one just forget that their country is involved in a war?

"The war. I totally forgot it was happening. We have to do something. I don't know what but something." Gilbert said. He needed to help finish this war and he had to find you. Finding the Scar Holders was what ranked the highest in his book, but Ludwig might not agree.

"There's so much to do. How are we supposed to fix everything? We need to save the Scar Holders, but we also have to finish this war." Gilbert said, not fully realizing that he was speaking aloud. That was until Ludwig placed a hand on his shoulder, trying to get him to calm down. Gilbert panicking about everything wouldn't help the situation at all.

"We'll get it all sorted out, don't worry." Ludwig told him. Gilbert wanted to believe it. He wanted to believe his brother's words. But in that moment they were just so hard to believe. All odds were stacked against them.

Yet Gilbert just nodded, choosing to believe his brother's words. They would get everything sorted out. Everything would be okay. Or at least he hoped so.
