^^^^ Parker's car^^^^

"Why do we have to go back?" I whine to Parker in the car.

"Because."

"I thought you said you weren't mad." I muse.

"I'm not."

"Then why are we going back to your place?"

"I have stuff to do before the coronation."

I nearly choke on air.

"What?! What coronation?" I ask.

Parker looks at me, his eyebrows scrunched together in confusion.

"The one we're having. Have you not been listening to all the times I told you that you were to be the queen?" Parker replies, obviously very concerned for my mental health.

"But...I'm only eighteen, Parker!"

"Young queens were very common in history," is all he says before continuing to drive down the highway. We had packed all of our things from the house earlier and peeled out of the driveway, hardly giving me enough time to say goodbye to everybody. I had Parker pull into Luna's driveway since she wasn't at my house earlier.

"What did you do to Kayla?" I question.

"Archer."

"Archer what?"

Parker sighs and releases one hand from the steering wheel to rub his temple.

"Archer took her from the aisle just before she followed you."

"Well, where is she now?" I push.

"At her house." Parker huffs frustratedly.

I huff in a similar manner and shrink back into the seat, crossing my arms over my chest childishly.

After a long silence, I turn my head to him.

"Can we get McDonald's?" I pout.

"No." Parker says, steering off into the other lane.

"How 'bout Wendy's?"

"No, Hadley."

"Burger King?"

"For the love of God, Hadley, no."

"What about -?"

Parker reaches over and clamps a hand over my mouth.

"Isn't that dangerous?" I say, which comes out more like, "Hmn hmph hmph hmph?"

"Don't know what you said, and I don't care because you've actually shut up." Parker grins triumphantly.

So I do the only sensible thing in this situation:

Lick his hand.

Parker pulls it away with a squeal and quickly wipes my saliva on his jeans.

"Were you raised in a barn?!" Parker continues to shriek as I roll my eyes.

"Compared to your house, yes."

Parker sighs in agony before groaning.

"You will be the death of me." He mutters.

"True that, broski." I agree.
