21) When every sentence begins with the same word.
E.g. I went to the shop. I saw my brother in the back. I was surprised. I went over and asked what he was doing here.
22) When the main character has a tragic backstory
Okay, I'm being slightly hypocritical on this one, but Jesus Christ. It's like... people don't deserve adventure or love if they had a normal childhood
23) I don't know if I've already said this, but dead parents/abusive parents/ parents that are just generally absent from the story
24) Time Skips
Find me ONE PUBLISHED BOOK that has " ~When you wake up~ " in the middle, to show the passage of time! There are one million ways around it, in a professional manner!
25) Cliché best friends
Friends in real life are not always perfect. They won't always stand by your side and they won't always put everything down for you! On top of this, most "best friend" characters in stories have NO personality or backstory; they're just "sassy" and "won't-take-no-shit-from-nobody". Can they please NOT be two dimensional!
