I

Some say to live for yourself
And enjoy life to the fullest.

You only live once, they say,
So make the best of it.

Live a little,
Be a rebel,

Take a risk,
Take a swing,
Take a chance,

But pray you don't miss.

So let me get this straight:
It's all about me?
My desires, my needs,
My dreams should fulfill me?

I only need three people
In my life:
Me, myself, and I?

So when I die,
When I'm gone,
That's all that I'll have done?

Thinking of myself
And everything I want?

What happened to being selfless?
Or was that never a word
That could describe us humans?
Perhaps selfish is a better term.

I don't mean to be harsh,
For I am guilty of this too.
To think that living for myself is all I need to do.

There is more to life than this,
These mere years on earth.
The selfless one calls us to live for Him,
To give our lives some worth.

To be able to live in a kingdom
When our time here is done.

To be able to say
That once I die
I am not done

Living for a purpose,
Feeling fulfilled and loved.
That me, myself, and I

Have more than just us.
