My King

18 4 2

The King who formed oceans,
Built the land, and lit up the sun
Called me by name.
I was a poor, chained, and frankly, worthless thing.

His glory was blinding,
His smile so kind.
Are you sure the name He called was mine?

"Come forth," He said.
My mouth gaped in shock.
"I have a key," He said,
"The key to your lock."

The chains fell to the ground.
Their release was the most beautiful sound.
"Thank you, sir!" I cried.
"You're welcome, but I'm not done yet," was His reply.

"I want you to be part of My kingdom.
Yes, a co-heir. I'll provide
For all your needs.
I promise you no other
Place could compare.

"And My Son will prepare you
As you walk through this life.
And whatever trials face you,
I'll always be by Your side.'

I was dumbstruck, confused, yet amazed.
I was an orphan and a screw up.
I didn't deserve the time of day.

Yet in His eyes,
All I could see was love.
Love undeniable, unbreakable,
Unconditionable.
More than enough.

I kneeled before Him,
And with joy and glee,
I said, "My king, I will most certainly
Stand by Thee."
