"I don't trust that NightWing," Grapefruit hissed as he flicked his tail. Gavin rolled an oddly shaped fruit in his talons. "Did she even tell you her name?"
Gavin shook his head. "Nope. But I told her mine, though I'm sure she wasn't listening."
Grapefruit sighed. "What if she's looking for you? What if she really is a spy?" Gavin snorted to cover his laugh. "She isn't, and she didn't seem like a liar either."
"How would you know?" Grapefruit says.
"I don't. I just feel like she isn't a liar. Just calm down." Grapefruit rolled his eyes.

Three days later...

Gavin sat in his hut as the RainWings slept during suntime. He had been practicing his animus power, levitating and throwing coconuts and bananas at targets, wanting his magic to be sharp. But then he remembered something.
He never tried to enchant his own soul yet. It should work, Gavin reminded himself. It has to.
Gavin glanced back and forth, making sure no RainWings watched him as he set both of his claws on his chest. Gavin took a long, deep breath, before saying, "enchant my soul to never break, no matter how much animus magic I use."
Gavin paused. Did it work? Was his soul safe?
Maybe it did work. Luckily, he didn't have to feel any side-effects.
Gavin went to the forest floor again, just wanting to take an afternoon scroll. The orchestra of noises made by different birds and insects and frogs was music to his ears. He was must about to take flight, until he heard someone's voice. "Aren't you Gavin? The idiot that tried to kill me?"

Gavin looked back and forth, before he looked up, to see the NightWing female he had encountered a few days before. The female was perched in a tree, grinned down at him. Her dark blue scales shimmered in the sunlight. "Again, I apologize," Gavin says. The NightWing giggled. "Its alright, I guess. By the way, the name's Jenny."

Jenny.

What an odd, but very unique name. It was like Gavin's name, but not. Gavin kinda liked how her name smoothly ran out of her mouth. Jenny.
"You're still in the Rainforest Kingdom?" Gavin questioned as raised his eyebrow. "I kind of expected you to leave by now."
Jenny swayed her tail as it hung from the branch she was perched on. "I'm afraid of going back to the island," she says. "After the SandWing attack, I was sure the NightWing island wasn't safe anymore. So I fled to here, where I also researched RainWings and their home."
"So, you live here?"
"Yeah, until the war ends, I suppose."
Jenny sighed, before carefully jumping off of the branch and onto the ground. She laid against the tree, sighing and closing her eyes.

The NightWing looked bored, even unhappy. She was all alone in the Rainforest Kingdom with no dragons to really keep her company. She wasn't technically allowed in the RainWing territory, and she would probably be shot with sleeping darts or RainWing venom if she went too much further in the RainWing's home.

As Jenny was taking a snooze, Gavin saw something float down from the tree. He squinted his eyes, only to see that what he saw wasn't floating. It was spider, a big one, and it was crawling down the tree using it's silk as a rope. The black and yellow spider was getting awfully close to Jenny's snout, and Gavin didn't want it to bite her. Gavin quietly walked to Jenny, trying not to wake her up as he stood on his hind legs and swatted at the eight-legged creature. The spider hissed, crawling up it's silk for a moment. Yes! Go away, you creepy thing!

Soon, he did actually succeed in shooing away the spider, keeping Jenny safe from any bug bites. Gavin stared at Jenny's scales. Her scales were sparkling so beautifully in the patches of sunlight that went through the canopy. It looked so pretty.
"Jenny," Gavin says quietly. Jenny opened one eye, responding with "what do you want?"
Gavin walked to her and tugged on her claws. "I want to show you to my other friends."
"...are they RainWings?"
"Yes."
"No thanks."
Jenny closed her eye, and sighed, trying to fall into a deep sleep so she could ignore Gavin, but he tugged on her claws again. "Come on! They won't hurt you, I promise," Gavin said. Jenny snorted, possibly covering up a sarcastic laugh. "They will hurt me," she says. "I'm not a RainWing! They'll shoot venom at me on sight-"
"Then I won't allow them to hurt you," Gavin said suddenly, flaring his wings. Jenny went silent, considering his words for a moment.
Jenny stood up, shaking dirt off of her scales. "Fine," she said with a weak smile. "Show me the way."

The two NightWings then flew to the RainWing village. The RainWings gave each other confused glances when they saw the dragons in their kingdom, but they were more shocked to see another NightWing. Grapefruit was first to see the dragoness with Gavin. "You two are already mates? Holy moons, you two just met a few days ago!"
Both Gavin and Jenny blushed deeply. "Wait, no! Nonononono," Jenny said. She gritted her teeth, lashing her tail. "I would never mate with him. Never. We're only friends."
Gavin nodded, glaring at Grapefruit. Grapefruit raised his claws. "No offense but you two look like a great coupl-"
Gavin stomped on Grapefruit's talon. Hard.
Grapefruit hissed, shaking his sore talon. Jenny looked around, fascinated with the scenery. "Wow.. The village looks beautiful." Jenny says as she watched a few colorful RainWings fly by. "Oh, and Gavin... The queen needs to talk to you. Again." Grapefruit added. Gavin nodded, but then he looked at Jenny. He couldn't just leave her alone in the village without protection. Grapefruit, with his venom, could protect Jenny, but probably not against so many angry adult RainWings. But he probably won't be gone for long, anyway. "Grapefruit," Gavin says as he opens his wings. "Make sure the other RainWings doesn't harm her. I don't like the looks on their faces."
Gavin then took off in the sky, to Queen Glory's treehouse.
"Your Majesty," Gavin says when he walked into the queen's treehouse. He bowed. Queen Glory's scales turned light blue, telling that she was calm at the moment. "Gavin, I have a task for you," Glory says. "Deathbringer has reported four assassination attempts made by MudWings, and I need you to go to the Mid Kingdom and find out why the MudWings are trying to kill me."
"Can I bring my friends?" Gavin asks. "Don't allow them to screw up," Glory says. "I cannot risk you getting hurt."
Gavin nodded. "Okay, Your Majesty."
