No...

No, it can't be...

Your eyes widened, and you couldn't avert them from what you were seeing. Written in black and white on the headlines.

Man killed in horrific car crash as two left injured

You didn't want to believe it. You didn't want to believe what you were seeing.

A man in his early twenties was killed in a road accident yesterday at around noontime.

You saw a car that looked awfully similar to Mingyu's. Your heart dropped deep in your gut as you pushed to continue reading further.

The man, who has yet to be identified, collided with a car from the opposite direction. The driver from said car sustained minor injuries and is being questioned in the hospital for suspected DUI. The police...

You didn't want to read any further. Everything made so much sense that you didn't want to believe it. Had Mingyu's family known about this? No, they said the man was yet to be identified. If it was him, then you knew the exact reason he was driving there in the first place.

"Relax, I wouldn't miss spending any day that's important to you. I'll leave tomorrow as soon as we finish up promoting for the day."

You held your phone close to your ear. He wasn't there, but you felt his presence in the silence that came after he said those words. "Really? Don't break your promise," you warned.

"Gosh, Y/N, since when have I ever broken a promise?" Mingyu chuckled on the other end. "I gotta go now. See you tomorrow, sweetheart. I love you."

"I love you too," you replied.

You started choking up. Those were the last words he had said to you. Convinced, you began to break down as you thought of all the things you could have said to him, but didn't. All the things you could have done with him, but hadn't.

You tore the newspaper to shreds and slammed your fists on the bed in anger. Mingyu was so young, and his life got taken away so fast. All because of some drunk guy on the road.

Trying to wipe away your tears, but to no avail, you stumbled towards the television and turned on the news, hoping to get a follow up on the incident. Coincidentally, it was already being covered on the news.

"... the man who was killed yesterday at the Noksapyeong intersection has been identified as 23-year-old Ahn Jung Min. Police have confirmed that..."

You blink in surprise. Before you knew it, Mingyu's number had been dialled, and you waited for him to pick up.

"Hello? Y/N? I'm almost up. Are you-"

You hung up immediately and raced through the door and down the stairs. You ran without even considering who was in your way and bumped into someone.

"Oh! I'm sorry, I-"

You looked up to see Mingyu's surprised face looking down at you. He registered the tears on your red face and immediately pulled you into a hug.

"Y/N?! What's wrong? What happened?!" Mingyu demanded as he embraced you fiercely.

"I thought you died," you sobbed as you clung onto him, never intending to let go. "I thought you died on your way here, and that I was never going to see you." Snot was all over his shirt, but he didn't seem to mind. His tight embrace didn't loosen one bit.

"I'm sorry," he said softly. "I got caught up in something, and the management took away our phones," he explained awkwardly. "I left as soon as it was settled. I didn't call so that I could come straight here. It's a lame excuse, but I also wanted to surprise you." Your eyes instinctively turned to the bouquet of flowers lying at the side from when he dropped them as you crashed into him.

"You idiot..." You sniffed as you buried your face in his chest. "I was so worried... you should have called me at least once. Do you know how worried I was?!"

"I'm sorry. This won't happen again. I'll always be here, okay?" He kissed your forehead.

"I love you. So much." You told him, still trying to control your sobs.

"I love you too, Y/N." He took one long look at your face and smiled. He wiped away your tears with his thumb. "Don't cry anymore. I'm here."
