After lunch, Sif grabbed Loki and took him back to the arena for another tournament. Thor went to watch, and Abbey decided to go to the private library.
When she got there she was surprised to see Loki sitting in one of the big arm chairs reading a thick book.
"Aren't you supposed to go in some tournament?" She asked.
"Techncally, yes, but you and I both know I really don't care." He said, closing his book.
"Does Sif know?" She asked sitting in the other arm chair with a book of her own.
"No, but she shouldn't expect me to stay." He opened his book again.
"I see." Abbey said as she began to read her book.
It was called "The legends of Midgard" and it had chapters devoted to Santa clause, the tooth fairy, and urban legends. It was funny because some of them were basically conspiracy theories. Abbey and Loki sat there reading for about an hour before they got bored.
"Lets go into the town." Loki said, closing his book.
"Alright," Abbey agreed, "it does get boring in here sometimes."
They snuck out of the palace while using magic to hide their faces. They bought some fine cheese to eat while they browsed the merchant booths.
At a particularly small booth, Abbey found a pendant locket that she couldn't help but want to buy. She never voiced it, though, because she was nervous about her strange attraction to it. She turned away and missed Loki passing change across the table, stuffing the locket in his pocket.
They kept browsing as the booths got farther and farther apart. Eventually an old woman called out to them from her doorstep.
"Come quickly! I have grave news for you two!" She said.
There wasn't anyone around so it couldn't have been anyone else. They looked at each other and silently decided to enter the old woman's cottage.
"Sit, dearies," she said, gesturing to two plush chairs. "My name is Reva, and before you say anything I know you're Loki and Abbey, your disguises don't work on see'rs." She winked t them cheekily.
"Well then, Reva, you called us here for grave news, and I'm awfully curious so let's get on with it shall we?" Loki said.
"Ah yes," she spoke in a suddenly raspy voice, "You two have unfortune in your future. In battle one will fall, but two must work together to control the power of the stone."
      "Stone? What stone?" Abbey asked.
"I'm afraid I can't tell you that." Reva said sadly, "You must go. The prophecy must be fulfilled." She got up and shooed them out of her house.
"What the heck was that all about?" Abbey asked. Looking at the old cottage with confusion.
"Probably just an old hag, either way now that we know of it, it probably won't happen." Loki explained. "C'mon I want to show you something."
He took her by the hand and led her through alleys and back roads to a tall cliff. Over the cliff there was a sparkling ocean. They walked over to a small water fall and Loki started to walk down a thin rocky path.
"Loki, is this safe?" Abbey asked, pulling her hand away.
"Of course, it opens up as we get farther down." He said grabbing her hand with both of his.
She let him lead her down and soon enough there was plenty of room for them to walk side by side. The path turned around and they ended up in a small cove behind the water fall they had seen before.
"Wow." Abbey whispered, looking around at the mysterious cove. "Wait what's that?"
She walked over to a small chest and fiddled with the lock before casting a spell to open it. It clicked open to reveal a small stone. Gently she picked it up and turned to Loki.
"What is this?" she asked, walking over to him.
He took the stone and muttered to himself before handing it back to her.
"I have no clue." He shrugged his shoulders.
As they passed it back and forth Abbey couldn't help but notice strange tingles going up and down her arms.
"What if it's what that old lady was talking about?" She asked looking up at Loki.
"You don't honestly believe her do you?" He asked, arching an eyebrow.
"Maybe? Have you had a strange pins and needles feeling in your arms when we pass it back and forth?" Abbey held the stone out, as if telling him to try it.
He took the stone and responded, "Yes, actually. That's... strange."
"What else could it be?" She asked wondering if there might be a more logical reason.
"I'm- I'm not sure." Loki said definitively, "But I'm certain it's not whatever Reva was talking about."
"Ok." Abbey said looking at the ground. "Let's just go back to the palace."
Loki took her outstretched and they teleported onto Abbey's balcony. She walked quietly into her chambers while Loki climbed over the railing and the three foot gap between the two platforms. Abbey was slightly upset that Loki didn't believe her. She did her best to brush it off and got dressed for dinner.
