I reach for my backpack and I miss it, tripping. Anthony and John used to be my friends, until I told them the secret I had hidden from them for over six years.

They pour my backpack out and step on my binder, breaking it.

After they see that I started to tear up, they ran away laughing.

I look at my things on the ground and I just sob.

"What did I do to them?" I whisper to myself.

I look up to see people staring at me and slowly walking over to see if I was ok. I get up and run.

I run past the school, past the stores and post office and all the little buildings in this small town of Baltic, South Dakota.

I stop running and look to my left.

It's the bridge from the dream.

I walk over to it and look off the edge.

I climb over the railing and look down. I lift up my foot and hang it over the edge.

"This is it." I tell myself.

I take a deep breath and tense up to jump.

"Wait!" I hear someone say.

I look behind me to see someone running over to me.

I tear up again and look away.

Who is this person? I ask myself.

I let go and start to fall off but he grabs my arm.

"No!" I yell at him. "I was so close!"

I start crying uncontrolably and I climb back over the railing, trembling.

I sit down on the ground leaning on the railing.

I cover my face from this person who "saved" me.

"Why did you stop me?" I say to him with an angry voice, "What do you care about me?"

"I've been where you are right now. I understand." He responds.

I keep crying but I stand up.

He take my hand away from my face and hugs me.

I've never felt so much comfort. I just wanted to stay here forever.

"C'mon, let's go to my place. My name is Chase, by the way." He says to me.

"I'm Noah..."
