Chapter three

FLASHBACK
It was the annual Giroud family ball, and Calla's beautiful home was filled with people from all walks of life, dressed in their finery. The ball had become a tradition over the past ten years, and it was always a grand affair, with sumptuous food and music. The lights glittered in the trees, and the mansion seemed almost magical, as though it had been plucked from a fairy tale. Everyone was enjoying themselves, laughing and dancing, and for a moment, all the problems of the world seemed to disappear.

Elvis rushed down the grand staircase, his light blue suit shimmering in the sunlight that streamed through the windows. He made a beeline for the kitchen, where Giselle was bustling around, directing servers as they carried platters of food out to the guests. The kitchen table was piled high with culinary delights, from savory dishes to decadent desserts, all of them mouth-watering and perfect for a celebration. Elvis couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and awe at the beauty of the feast before him.

Giselle was a vision in her red dress and scarf, her beauty rivaling that of the feast she had created. Elvis couldn't help but admire her as she bustled about the kitchen, ensuring everything was perfect. When she finally left to mingle with the guests, Elvis seized his opportunity. He darted behind a wall and grabbed a cupcake off the tray, but before he could stuff it into his mouth, a hand gripped his.

Elvis gasps and turns to see someone his height, giving him a frown.  "Put it down." The young boy said.

Elvis frowns at the boy. "Who are you? Let me go!"

"No!" The boy sharply replied.  "My mama made that for the event."

Elvis gives him a look. "You're Giselle's son? I've never seen you before."

"I'm her third kid."

"I only know Kai."

"He's my big brother."

The boy was an inch taller than Elvis. He was light-skinned and had a head full of hair. He was wearing a black suit and looked like he had been given an order to guide the cupcakes and was ready to throw Elvis in jail.

"What's your name?" Elvis inquired.

"Joshua."

"Well, Joshua. You know your mom made this for the ball my mom is throwing, it's just a snack."

"I don't care. She put me in charge because she said a little boy might come to take a cupcake or two or five." He says.

Elvis's mouth made an o shape.

"Well, maybe you should look out for that little boy." Elvis replies.

The boy gives him a look, furrowing a brow at Elvis.

"I'll tell." The boy said.

Elvis groaned in frustration. He slowly smirks as an idea pops into his head. He turns back to the boy in front of him. "Fine. But if you let me have this, I'll show you our secret room."
