"Mom..."

"I know there's something on your mind, Tessie. Please don't keep it from me, anymore." Her voice was hauntingly soft, as if she knew my truth before I'd even said it but I knew it wasn't possible.

She's my mom.

"Y...you know?"

Her eyes softened with affection as she reached forward to take my hands in hers, her head shaking slightly and only confusing me more.

"I know your hurting, honey. You know you can tell me anything."

Her hands tightened around mine, fiercely holding me and I felt her determination in her normally subdued voice.

"Anything."

3 words.

6 letters.

They were my truth.

Suddenly, it didn't feel so crushing to say them, because I knew a part of her knew, already.

And she loved me, anyways.

"Mom..." I squeezed her hands as fear rushed my veins.

"I'm gay."
