As soon as I opened my eyes, I groaned realizing where I was.

The hospital.

I visit here so much I'm starting to get sick of it.

I stood up to leave but fell back on the same uncomfortable bed.

My leg was wrapped up in a cast.

I finally decided to yell, "Doctor!"

After awhile, the door finally opened up and the doctor walked in taking a seat.

I said, "What is going on?"

He replied, "You fell on a blade."

I was so shocked but then remembered the events of last night.

Johnny must have dropped his blade when he came in the house.

Or maybe he dropped it when Darry was yelling and startled it.

He was the only one with a blade in the house maybe it was his...

The doctor went out in the hall and told everyone it was ok to come in.

Following him was Darry, Soda, Pony, and Johnny.

I smiled at them and said, "Hey guys."

Pony came beside me and asked so many questions, "Are you ok? Does your leg still hurt? What's wrong Doc?"

My heart started beating really fast as he asked all of these.

Johnny quickly elbowed him realizing my expression.

Pony got really quiet and didn't say anything at all.

I said, "No, I'm fine really. There's nothing wrong with me. Right Doc?"

I looked over at him hoping and begging he would say yep your fine.

But instead, "Emma, seriously? I mean your leg is in a cast. You broke it."

I wanted to start crying right then, but I knew I couldn't let that happen.

I sat up in my bed and asked, "What?"

The doctor continued, "But your good to go school just be careful on your leg."

He handed me my first new set of crutches and showed me how to use them.

I entered school late but just enough time to get to my drama class.

I crutched my way over to the teacher and sent her my video telling her why I was late and then I sent the other girl that didn't have a phone.

When the final bell rang for school, I went to the track field to see Soda was picking up Ponyboy.

There was no sign of my dad or any of the other members.

I smiled and did a small wave to him as he came to me.

He smiled and said, "Hey, how ya feeling?"

I shrugged and said quietly, "Broken."

He half smiled at me and said, "You'll be good as new in a couple weeks."

I shrugged again and said, "I don't know. The big track tournament is in a couple weeks and I need to not miss it."

He shook his head and said, "You don't need to worry about that.

You just need to get to feeling better and rest your leg."

I replied, "I don't know, Soda, my dad gets mad when I don't practice."

Soda shook his head again and said, "Your dad can wait."
