Rules in making dialogues.

First, what is Dialogue?

For me guys, it is the things that are saying or discussion between the two groups or in a movie and books.

Ito yung mga linya na sinasabi ng characters natin. Pero may mga ilan tayong hindi alam pagdating sa dialogues.

Ang dialogues din ay isa sa mga tinitingnan ng mga kritiko, editors and publishers dito sa atin. So, if I were you magingat ka sa pagsusulat. So, simulan na natin.

1. Always capital the first word of dialogues.

Simple lang, i-capslock ang unang letter sa isang paragraph at after ng isang sentence.

Example:

Incorrect: "hi," she said.

Correct: "Hi," she said.

EXCEPTION: Kapag ang dialogue ay may speaker tag. Wag ikapitalize ang unang word ng second half of sentence.

Incorrect: "Hi," he said, "How are you?"

Correct: Hi," he said, "how are you?"

2.During a conversation, make a new paragraph whenever someone new speaks.

Example :

"Galit ka ba?" sabi niya.

She shrugged, casting her gaze to the floor. "Why would I be mad?"

"I don't know," he said.

See? taglish iyan haha! basta leave one space.

3.Periods, commas, question marks and exlamatory points always go inside the quotations. Natural dapat nasa loob sila! Awkward naman kung ganito jusko:

"Hoy"! sigaw niya

"Sino ka" ?.

Yung totoo?

4. If your dialogue is followed by a speaker tags, end it with a (,) and an (!) and only capitalize the following word outside the speech if its A PROPER NOUN!

Yung speaker tag ay okay english ito >> It is use of a subject and verb directly describe speech eto yung mga 'said' 'asked' 'replied' May nilagay akong list niyan sa dulo nito tingnan nyo na lang :)

EXAMPLE:

Incorrect:

"Hi." She said.

She said. "Hi."

Correct:

"Hi," she said.

She said, "Hi."

Incorrect:

"Go away!" She yelled.

"Go away!" she yelled.

See the difference? mamaster niyo din iyan!

5. If your dialogue is followed by an action/beat. End it with a period, question mark or an exclamatory point. And always capslock the following word outside speech.
