As Long As It Lasts

As I write these poems,

My vocabulary ruins short.

How many times can I compare our love to a

Frightful, howling storm that wakes me up at night?

How many times can I compare the taste of your lips

To the sweet, burning rum running down my throat?

How many times can I compare the sound of your voice

To a single orchestra playing in the quietest room?

I can sit here and compare you to the most beautiful sunset.

How your eyes remind me of the sun glowing against the horizon.

How your touch reminds me of the ocean brushing against my fragile skin,

Causing a storm of goosebumps, rushing through my body.

I can sit here and compare you the darkest of nights.

How your existence reminds me of the bright moon, shining throughout the dusk.

How your beauty reminds me of the cold breeze rustling the leaves

How the blush on your cheeks reminds me of a warm campfire.

As long as we last,

These poems will never end.
