6. Crazy Quiz Days -Part 1

"How much of this stuff do you know?" Hannah wailed. She had been helping me practice for the quiz which is supposed to be tomorrow but apparently she was getting tired cause i knew more than too much.

"Just five more questions please.." i insisted.

"Fine! Name two risk factors for coronary heart disease?" She questioned lazily.

"High blood pressure, Diabetes, overweight, Stress -" i was cut off by Hannah.

"Okay Brain box, we get it." A sharp pain hit my head and i let out a groan. "Thats what you get for studying your ass off. Now go rest!" She scolded me.

"But the quiz is tomorrow, i need to be prepared."

"You need to rest! Your heads spinning! Now let me get two tablets of Excedrin for you and then go sleep." She talked like as if it was my mom talking.

"Yes mom." I fake saluted her and she ran down to get the tablets.

She came back after five minutes with a glass of water and the medicine.

"But.. but.." i stuttered while taking the medicine in my palm.

"You better not make any stupid faces and have that Soph." Her look was too scary and i quickly put the horrible tablets in my mouth. I drank the water and made a disgusted face.

"Now get in bed." She said pulling me to my bed. I settled my pillows just how i like them and put my head down. She draped the blanket over me and switched off the lights.

"Goodnight Soph." She said as she got into her own bed. Sometimes she acted like the elder one which i completely loved her for.

"Goodnight." I said as sleep took over me.

I looked in the mirror for the hundredth time. Nervousness hit me as i realized it was the regional competition quiz, all high officials would be there. I revised everything i knew in my brain again. I grabbed my backpack and headed down for breakfast.

The smell of freshly made pancakes made me walk faster. Hannah and Tyler were already on the table as usual. That is when i remembered. I walked up to the table and sat next to Tyler.

"Can i talk to you for a second?" I whispered to him. Hannah was busy in stuffing her pancakes. "Hmm.."he said muching on his pancake and applying syrup on another.

"What were you doing outside Chloe's yesterday?" I questioned and he choked on his pancake. Mum quickly rushed towards him and started patting his back till he felt better. After giving him a short lesson on chewing slowly, she walked back towards the stove. Tyler held my hand and dragged me out of the kitchen.

"Listen, what i was doing there is none of your business and don't you dare to ever mention it infront of anyone! Got it?!" He scolded me.

His angry behaviour scared me to an extent where i couldn't utter any word. I simply nodded and he dragged me back to the kitchen like nothing ever happened. Mum slipped a pancake in my plate. Hannah looked at me from opposite the table and coughed. I broke my stance from the pancake and looked at her.

"So what exactly are you two fighting over?" She furrowed her eyebrows at me then looked at Tyler. Before i could utter a word, Tyler spoke.

"Tell your sister not to leave a mess the next time she looks for my hoodies in my cupboard." He lied. My mum and Hannah laughed because basically everyone in the house knew my love for hoodies. I just stayed silent while Hannah applied syrup on my pancake and passed the plate back to me. I forcefully ate one and waved everyone at home goodbye. "Good luck babe!" Hannah shouted. Mum and Tyler also wished me luck and i walked out of the house.
