Chapter 7

Jacqueline's POV

The sores were becoming worse as each day went by. Whether I liked it or not, I had to see a doctor about it, as the sores could be more than I think they are. At first, I was afraid that a doctor would give me a blood test and notice something strange about my DNA, but I was sure that my DNA had returned to normal from losing my powers. But when I got to the doctor's clinic, relief washed over me for some reason. Somehow I thought that maybe the sores weren't that bad.

"Jacqueline Jameson," a male doctor called out in the waiting room. I stood up and followed him into one of the rooms. "Hi, I'm Dr. Martin, please take a seat."

I sat down in a chair which was quite comfortable and waited in silence as he typed away on his computer, watching him type what looked like complete nonsense to me. He finally spun around on his chair and faced me.

"How can I help you, Jacqueline?" He asked.

"Well, I have these irritating sores on both my wrists and one near my left shoulder," I replied nervously as I rolled up my sleeves to show the sores on my wrists. He looked confused as he took a close look at the sores. It was as if he had never seen anything like it before.

"Could I see the one on your shoulder?" He asked, turning back to his computer to type what I was guessing was a report about my sores.

I took my top off slowly, feeling slightly embarrassed even though I was wearing a T-shirt underneath. I pulled the sleeve up and exposed my left shoulder, noticing an even more confused expression spread across Dr. Martin's face. I felt slightly worried, as I expected that he would know of at least one way to help treat the sores. My thoughts about the sores not being that bad, had suddenly changed.

"I've never seen anything like those sores before," he whispered, using a magnifying glass to look at all three sores closely.

Thanks that makes me feel a whole lot better...

He turned to his computer and tried to look for diagrams of different sores or infections that would look similar to the green and pink-red sores I had. Nothing matched. I started to feel worried as Dr. Martin continued to research different sores and wounds that would match the sores I had.

"Jacqueline, do you have an allergic reaction to anything?" Dr. Martin asked, still looking at photos and diagrams.

"No, I have no allergies. I don't recall ever having allergies."

"Have you taken any medication, including illicit drugs?"

"No, nothing like that," I replied quickly, slightly offended by the question. But then I remembered the serum I had taken and how that most likely linked to the reason why I had the sores in the first place. In fact, it had to be the reason. I couldn't doubt it was the reason, but I couldn't tell Dr. Martin anything.

"Have you been around any plants or hazardous chemicals?" Dr. Martin asked, sounding frustrated. I knew he was running out of ideas of what the sores could be or where they could have come from.

"No. I have no idea where these sores could have come from," I replied.

Dr. Martin continued typing his report as I looked around at the different diagrams of the human body hanging on the walls. He printed something from his computer and signed his name at the bottom of the form.

"Ok, I'll prescribe you some cream which will hopefully help treat the sores. If they become worse, come see me again."

"Thank you," I said as I took the form from Dr. Martin on my way out. I went to a pharmacy which was next door and collected the cream I was prescribed. I was hoping it would help.
