Chapter 24
Mary Jane's POV
It was 11 o'clock when I got a call from Harry. He sounded dark and quite scary as he told me to meet him at his apartment building. I listened to him and left my house immediately, as I was worried about what he was planning to do. I didn't care if my father didn't want me to leave. I had to see Harry. I had to know what he wanted me to do.
Thinking that I could just take the subway or even a taxi, a limo pulled up in the driveway. The driver got out and opened the back door for me. I smiled a "thank you" and then got in. I sat in silence, staring out the window at the skyscrapers that reached up into the sky, where Spider-Man swung over often. Spider-Man, or Peter Parker, was in the past. I would have loved to still be with him, but there were too many secrets and things hidden away from me. I would never understand him. I would never understand what he had with Gwen, and how he managed to get over the heartbreak of losing his girlfriend, his uncle and his parents.
"Miss Watson, we have arrived at Mr. Osborn's apartment complex."
I never understood why he called it an apartment when he had the whole building to himself. It was more like a mansion built into the form of a skyscraper, yet it was only five storeys high. As I looked at the "apartment building", I got out of the limo with the assistance of the driver. The front gates opened, allowing me to enter. Before I even got close to the front doors, Harry's butler, Bernard opened the doors.
"Come quickly, Miss Watson. Harry is in quite a rush."
"To do what?" I mumbled.
I walked through the doors quickly and was greeted by the darkness of the foyer. For a second I thought he was pranking me, as I expected Harry to greet me immediately. I became worried.
"Harry! Where are you?" I called.
Out of nowhere, Harry appeared in front of me on a hovering glider, wearing a dark green metallic suit. I looked into his eyes and saw pure evil; that was something I had never seen in him before.
"Nice suit," was the only thing I could say as I looked up at Harry.
"Thanks. Dr. Allistaire Smythe constructed it with my father."
Harry stepped off the glider and it landed slowly on the ground. As Harry stepped closer towards me and into the light, I was able to take a better look at his suit. There were protective plates covering each joint, which were a dark metallic green. The rest of the suit was black.
"Harry-"
"It's the Green Goblin," Harry interrupted,
"Oh. Well, Green Goblin, what would you like me to do?"
"I told you that I wanted to capture Peter's aunt May to draw him in, so that is what I will get you to do," Harry, or the Green Goblin said. "I want you to go to her house and convince her to step outside while I burn it down. Then I will capture her and take her to a place where Peter can find me. Then I will crush him. Spider-Man will be forced to beg me for forgiveness!"
I was quite shocked by the plan and I tried to find the words to reply to what he had said. I couldn't think of anything to say. I didn't want Peter's aunt to be harmed in any way. I didn't really want Peter to be harmed, but I was worried that if I betrayed Harry, I would be his next target.
"Are you in?" Harry said, breaking my train of thought.
"Y-yes. I'll leave now."
I walked out of the building and got back into the limo. As I was driven away, I looked back at Harry who was standing at the doorway. I gulped and closed my eyes. I had no idea how I was going to carry out the plan, but I knew I had to come up with something so that May would not be harmed.
