sighing softly, you rested your elbow against the wood of the counter. 'same shit, different day' as your mother would say. the café itself was pretty much empty, with the exception of a student and an elderly couple.

you watched the student, just out of pure boredom, observing their lithe fingers move against the keys of the laptop. this was something you enjoyed, watching people- not in a creepy way, just in a sort of candid fashion. people often looked their best when they weren't aware that eyes were on them.

however, your attention was sharply diverted from the student when the door to the café swung open with a blast of chilly winter air, typical of a mid-december day. a young boy walked in- he looked around his twenties- and swung the door shut behind him. he paused for a moment at the door, glancing around the small room, until his eyes came to rest on you.

given that his eyes were the only part of him visible, you couldn't help but stare. you didn't want to be cliché, but his eyes spoke volumes. though, to be fair, that could be due to the fact that nothing else was visible. his hair was covered almost entirely with a black cap, but a few blond strands emerged from beneath it. his mouth and nose covered by a black mask, his entire outfit pitch black.

his leather jacket and skinny jeans heavily suggested that he was a little intimidating, and he clearly owned the room as soon as he walked in. he looked a little awkward about it though, and you couldn't help but think that he was kinda cute.

shaking your head to dismiss these thoughts, you took a deep breath and plastered on your biggest (and fakest) smile possible. the eyes of your manager made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. he was just itching for an excuse to dock your pay. again.

the man snorted into his mask at you, cocking an eyebrow. "you aren't too great at acting." he said, pulling his mask down as he walked- or rather, strode- up to the counter. you raised your eyebrow at him in return.

"you aren't too great at first impressions." you retorted, mentally cringing as you realised that was probably a bad idea. the man, however, let out a soft chuckle, and held his hand out over the counter. "min yoongi." you smiled, taking his hand, shaking it politely. "(y/l/n) (y/f/n)." he gave you a polite smile in return. "you know, this isn't usually how people order coffee- it's normally a battle to get them to talk at all, even just to say their order!" you said, with a soft chuckle.

he smiled at you again. "well, i'd like an espresso and some conversation, if that's quite alright." giving you a slight smirk after he pulled down his mask and leaned over the counter a little. your cheeks flushed at his flirting, but there was no way your manager would let you off- even with the café being as empty as it is. "espresso, no problem. conversation i can't supply, i'm afraid. i won't be able to go on break, unfortunately." he pouted slightly- which was adorable, and the fact it happened naturally was extremely cute- and rested his hand on his face.

"hmm. maybe i'll have to get your number then." your cheeks grew an even brighter shade of red as you went about making his espresso. "hmm." you replied, copying his tone. "maybe you will." you handed him his espresso, and he flipped his phone toward you, clearly gesturing for you to enter your number.

you did as such, and gave him a small smile as he walked to the window seat, curling up with his hand holding the espresso, his other hand holding his phone. every instinct was telling you to take a photo- your further statement about people being beautiful when they aren't aware they're being watched had just been proved one thousand times over by this man.
