She is Earth and I am fire

There is a one-sided desire

The circumstances are dire

Isn't that right, sire?

The property-men look for a buyer

For the old, haunted Grimsfold mire

Which has a manor with a spire

And a look upon it

Forces the sprightliest of men to tire.

When men have desire

They become desperate

Even when they celebrate

They feel hollow and celibate

In this world of the Earth,

When the everlasting tenure of life

shall reach its summit,

The cause of the great end

the fatal dent

Would be the fire

Of greed and of desire
