It was another dark, cold and stormy night

The moon shone so bright

And the scene didn't look very right

For the elements were showing their might

Cold rain splattered on the pavement

The debtors strode across for payment

The men asked for postponement

But got only cruel, wasteful punishment

But the storm drenches on

Despite all the ages bygone

From the age of mud to metal to stone

Nature and earth survive with no one's loan
