Taehyung
After dinner, Jungkook and I head back to his room to talk some more. Yugyeom gets ready for bed and then heads to the living room to hang out with Jimin, and I'm sure he won't come back tonight. Jimin and Yugyeom were trying to give us space, everyone was really, since this was our last night together.
"Are you going to miss me when I'm gone?" He says as he sits beside me on his bed.
I felt weird to be on his bed since we used to spend most of our time on my bed. It was no longer my bed though. Even though this was my room only a couple days ago, it no longer felt like my room. Jungkook's clean linen and crisp apple scent was mixed with a warm scent like cloves and autumn wind. Yugyeom was just as carefree as Jungkook; they both had various textbooks littering the desk and the floor, and clothes strewn across the ends of their beds.
"You know tomorrow is cleaning day. You and Yugyeom are going to be in here for awhile." I say.
"It won't be too bad. Yugyeom will make it fun; he always finds a way to make boring things fun." Jungkook replies.
"You two have gotten close in the short while that he's been here. Are you going to miss him?" I ask.
"Not as much as I'm going to miss you." Jungkook says, smiling at me.
"Thanks, but you don't have to worry about that anymore. I'm no longer jealous of him." I say, even though Kookie's words give me some satisfaction.
"Well that's good. I'm glad you two are friends now." Kookie says.
"I wouldn't call us friends either." I say as Jungkook leans against the pillows beside me, hooking his leg over mine.
"Can you promise me something?" Jungkook asks, looking up at me as i put my arm around his shoulders.
"What?" I ask wearily as i take his hand, playing with his slender fingers.
"Promise me you'll include Yugyeom in anything you and Jimin do, at least in school. I don't want him to have to go through what I went through." Jungkook says, still looking at me.
"..ok. I promise." I say.
I seriously doubt someone like Yugyeom would have trouble making friends but I don't bother to say this to him.
Jungkook leans his head back against my shoulder, content with our promise. We sit in silence for a moment, each lost in our own thoughts.
"Do you really think Hyung will have us doing chores on my last day?" He asks.
"I don't think so. But I wouldn't put it past him." I say.
"I hope we're not doing chores." Jungkook says with a small pout on his face.
"The house is going to be so different without you." I muse absent-mindedly.
"My life is going to be different without you." Jungkook replies and I roll my eyes.
"Always so dramatic." I reply teasingly.
"Its true though." He insists.
We continue to talk on into the night. Jungkook tried his hardest to say awake (he normally clocked out around eleven) but by one thirty, I knew he was a goner.
I pulled him towards me as he drifted off, letting his head rest against my chest as i hold him in my arms.
I find myself holding him tighter and tighter as it dawns on me that this is really the last time I'll hold him this way. Or easily talk to him, see his eyes crinkle up when he smiles, or hear his goofy little laugh that made anyone who heard it laugh as well.
I look at his dark hair, closed eyes that hid deep innocent brown eyes, and slightly round face. If he had the strength to let me go and let me date while he was gone, then I should be able to do the same.
"Kookie? Kookie." I say, shaking him gently until he wakes up.
"What?" He mumbles after a moment, his eyes opening slightly to look at me.
"if you want me to 'move on' while you're gone, then I want you to do the same." I say, immediately regretting the words as soon as they leave my mouth. But I can't just say 'ha, ha just joking' and take it back. I have to follow through with it now.
"Enjoy your time in America like you want me to enjoy my last year of school. And..we'll evaluate our feelings once you come back." I force myself to say.
"Are you sure?" He asks hesitantly while muffling a yawn.
No.
"Oh yeah." I say easily.
Jungkook nods and leans heavily into me; within seconds he falls asleep again.
"Goodnight Jungkook." I whisper."Taehyung, Jungkook; get up and start getting ready. We're going out to breakfast." Seokjin says as he shakes me awake.
I open my eyes to see him move down to the end of the bed, where Kookie was sprawled out and gently shake him awake.
Jungkook gets up and stumbles into the bathroom, closing the door behind him.
Seokjin surveys the room carefully as he walks to the door.
"Find what you're looking for?" I ask jokingly.
"Thankfully, no." Seokjin replies easily, making me turn red. "Yugyeom is waiting on you to come out so he can go get ready."
"Ok." I say, suddenly remembering that this isn't my room. I stand up and stretch, straightening up Jungkook's bed before I walk out of the room, nodding slightly to Yugyeom as i pass him on the way to my room.
Jimin was in the bathroom but if I know him like I thought I did, he should be coming out soon. I walk over to the closet pick out my clothes, dressing alittle nicer than usual since it was Jungkook's last day.
It was Jungkook's last day.
I wish we could spend it alone, without all the Hyungs, playing video games, watching tv, or getting intimate between the sheets.
"Sad that today is your boyfriends last day?"
I turn to see Jimin fully dressed and ready, gently towel drying his wet hair.
"I wish we could spend today alone." I say as I grab some clothes.
"Ouch; you know, we love Jungkook just as much as you do." Jimin replies.
"I highly doubt that." I say.
"Ew, stop being so lovey-dovey. It doesn't look good on you." Jimin says teasingly.
He laughs as i push him, my face flaming up again.
"Jimin, what am I going to do without him? All I'll have for company again is you-"
I grin as he pushes me this time.
"We also have Yugyeom." Jimin says.
"Yugyeom isn't Jungkook though. Besides, it's not like we're best friends or anything. We only have one major common interest: Jungkook. And hes going to be gone by six o'clock." I say.
"You two can talk about how much you miss him." Jimin says jokingly.
"I'm getting in the shower." I say shortly, making Jimin laugh. When I step out of my room thirty minutes later, I jump in surprise at the two men standing in the living room, talking to an angry looking Seokjin. Everyone else was lined up on the couch, watching quietly... everyone except Jungkook, who steps out of his room in an oversized white tee and a pair of black sweatpants.
He also looks a bit surprised as he takes in the scene before him.
"Manager Taeji and Domin hyung? What're you doing here?" He asks.
They both turn to him, one of them frowning as soon as they lay eyes on him. It makes me want to punch his lights out.
"You're not doing a VLive in that. Or walking through the airport in that." The frowner states.
"VLive?" Jungkook asks in confusion as he ushers him back into the room.
"Hyung? What's going on?" I ask.
"Jungkook has to leave." Seokjin says shortly.
"Now? But..we were going to go to breakfast. He can't leave now-"
"Taehyung, sit down and be quiet." Seokjin says in that same tone of voice.
"But..." I trail off as Jimin gently tugs my hand, making me sit down beside him.
"Again, I apologize about how last minute this all is," the kinder Manager says as two assistants come out of Jungkook's room with his suitcases and carryon bag, walking toward the front door. "We just need to get some things done before he leaves for California."
"I just wish you'd had the courtesy to give us a bit more warning. If I'd known he was leaving early today, we would've went out and done some other things yesterday." Seokjin says.
The man nods, glancing at two women who walk past him to the front door.
"We'll certainly do that in the future, I promise." He assures as Jungkook reappears in a red hoodie, snapback, and denim jeans, followed closely behind the other manager. They'd put makeup on his face, so that he'd looked more awake and his skin clearer, and made him ditch his glasses.
"He's going to need a complete makeover before debut. The kid is hopeless when it comes to fashion." The mean one says to the other, making Jungkook blush in embarrassment.
"Like you dress any better." I say before I can stop myself.
"I'm not the idol here, am I?" He replies calmly, looking at me with unmasked annoyance.
I open my mouth to reply but Jimin cuts me off with a nudge, motioning to Kookie, who looked like he wanted to die. I bite back my retort, grimacing as the guy looks at me triumphantly.
"Would you like a moment to say goodbye before we leave?" The nicer one says to Jungkook, leading the other out as he nods.
Jungkook turns to look at all of us, his eyes full of emotion, before he turns to Seokjin, walking into his outstretched arms without a word. He looked absolutely terrified.
"Hyung, I don't know if I can do this." He says quietly, sounding as scared as he looked.
Instantly we all stand, even Yoongi, and group hug Seokjin and Jungkook.
"You have to do it. Its want you always wanted isn't it?" Seokjin asks gently.
"I don't want to lose my family again." Jungkook says.
Seokjin pulls away, breaking the group hug. Jimin and Hoseok quickly dab their eyes, not wanting Jungkook to see them tearing up. I make my way through them to Jungkook, putting my arms around him from behind.
"There's no way you could lose us; or me." I say, adding the last part quietly so only he can hear.
"Yeah, we're not that easy to get rid of." Yoongi adds.
"We'll be here waiting on you when you come back." Seokjin says.
"Now go chase your dreams." Hoseok says with a grin. Jungkook nods, squeezing my hand slightly as he says bye to everyone. He doesn't look back at me once as he walks to the front door and leaves but I understand why.
It would hurt too much; it'd feel too much like goodbye, and I didn't want to say goodbye.
