Chapter 4

I met up with Sakura on the way home. She was looking pretty excited, so I asked her about it.

"So, what's up? How's your team? Is your Jōnin sensei any good? Mine's an ass," I started rambling.

"Well, Sasuke's on my team, so that's awesome, but Naruto is, too, and he's obnoxious and finds entertainment in ruining my life," Sakura made a disgusted face. "Kakashi-Sensei didn't tell us anything, but I have to be at the training fields tomorrow really early. Ugh. So how's your team, other than your teacher being an ass?"

I took a deep breath, "Haruka and Tamaki both said practically the same thing: Senju this, Senju that. Destroy "evil" Sasuke, hate "Blood Mist creeps", et cetera. Kazuto-Sensei said his relationship with your sensei is based mostly on enmity. Oh! Also, Kazuto-Sensei was able to give a short description of each of us after about twenty minutes," I finished and caught my breath.

"How in the world could Haruka think Sasuke is evil? Sasuke is amazing and he is completely loyal to Konoha and would never do an evil thing. He wouldn't hurt a fly!" Sakura went in full-on fangirl mode.

Too bad none of the other girls know about Itachi and Sasuke's quest for revenge. They might be a bit more afraid of the guy. Wait—no. That would probably make him look "even more amazing".

I absentmindedly walked away from Sakura, towards the old Uchiha complex. There he is!

Sasuke was sitting next to the entrance. I walked up to him. He looked up at me and gave me his signature glare.

"I've been wanting to talk to you about something, jackass." I looked down at him with contempt. Without waiting for an answer, I went on, "If you somehow end up with enough 'power' to defeat Itachi, you better apologize to me, because I'll be left to deal with a whole bunch of broken hearts. Also, how the hell do you think you'll get enough strength to kill an S-rank criminal in league with Akatsuki?"

Sasuke looks at me with an enormous amount of confusion in his eyes. At least, for him. It's not really possible for him to show much emotion. "How... how do you know about that? Who told you?"

"Idiot, I found it in the Konoha archives. Pretty easy to find, actually." Half true. It's in the archives and easy to find, but that's not where I learned it. Zabuza-sama told me, because he knows Kisame-sama is in league with Itachi. "Now remember what I said. You'll need to when the Chūnin exams come around." Then I walked away.

Konoha-012, we have to discuss something. I await your response within the next 2 hours.

As soon as I received the message, I started to sprint to the Haruno household. I spoke a quick "hello" to Mr. and Mrs. Haruno, then climbed the stairs two at a time to my room.

Sitting down to meditate after checking my appearance in the mirror [(h/c) hair wind blown from the run home and (e/c) eyes blank as ever], I closed my eyes and replied to Takashi-sama (A/N: yes, I'm using random anime names. Sue me.).

I am ready for the discussion. Begin whenever you are ready, Takashi-sama.

Very well. I will get straight to the point: Zabuza Momochi will be important in a mission taking place in the near future. I don't believe that your team will be chosen, but if you are to complete the following task, you will have to secretly leave Konohagakure for an amount of time not yet decided.

Leaving Konoha? That should be easy enough, as long as Sakura or Naruto doesn't interfere.

Takashi-sama, I am prepared to receive my assignment. I will leave Konohagakure whenever you tell me to.

All right, Konoha-012, your mission is the following: Meet Zabuza-sama before intercepting the bridge-builder's escort team. You are to team up with Zabuza-sama and his partner and stop the bridge builder's escort from succeeding. Zabuza is carrying a mask for your disguise. You will be informed of the beginning date for your mission a week in advance. Do you accept?

I take in all that information and reply, Of course, Takashi-sama. I accept the mission.

Good. Then you are dismissed, Konoha-012.

Yes, sir. Konoha-012, signing off.

So I'm intercepting a mission that Konoha shinobi will be participating in? Should be easy enough.
