Chapter 10

After hitting my head on that locker being la burla de la escuela (being the joke of the school)

Loren took me to the nurses office for a ice pack but the nurse made Loren go to class so here I am alone laying down with a ice pack to my head and all I can think about is Jose wondering if he's in school or what he's doing all wrapped up in my thoughts I didn't hear the nurse talking to me

"Camila are you okay can you hear me"
she asked standing up walking up to me

"huh oh yea ms I'm fine I promise"

I said looking up to her smiling hoping she'll see that I really am fine so I can go back to the normal day and hopefully see Jose

"okay then if you say you are fine then okay go ahead get back to class"

she said walking away going over to her desk to write me a pass she walked back over to me handing me the pass

"thank you ms Torres"I said smiling and walking out

Getting out of the nurses office I started my way to first period texting Loren letting her know I can go back to class as I was turning in to the hall I heard giggles and laughs of people but I kept looking down at my phone not paying attention to the people sitting on the steps

I was minding my own business till I heard my name 'mila!' 'Aye mila esperarte' (wait)

I turned around and sure enough it had to be Jose stopping and waiting till he came up to me just seeing him and hearing his voice made me get chills

"Que paso (what happened) what do you need?"
I said trying to keep my cool and sounding normal as ever

"nada (nothing) what I can't check up on you or what' 'check up on me for what"

I said looking up at him it's obvious he heard about what happened this morning

"well I heard you ran in to a locker you okay I know that must hurt like a bitch"he said with a concern look on his face

"no no I'm fine I just left the nurses office I'm going back to class"

"oh okay but hey I need to talk to you about something I really need your help and advice mila I got myself in to some shit and well I know you'll be able to help me what to do"

he had his hand behind his neck and I know he only does that when he's stressed out I wanted to say no but before I could even think my mouth opened

"uh yea sure how about after school"

I stupidly said

he smiled 'yea that's perfect just meet me by the front doors after school hope you have a good class hermosa (beautiful)'

I turned around so quick just so he won't see my blushing and continued my journey to class replaying the whole conversation in my head over and over
