i just loved this ship! It's like even though Maki may see Kaito as an idiot, deep down she really likes him.Maki does care about Kaito. She hides the fact that she likes him because of her cold personality. Throughout her journey, she starts to have feelings for him and was willing to protect him in the fifth trial. Before Kaito was excuted, Maki confessed that she had fallen for him, tearfully. This show that Kaito was the only one that made her feel emotionally for the first time.
I have a feeling that Kaito also has feelings for Maki when he defended her in the second trial, invites her to join him and Shuichi for workouts, and even gave her a cute nickname: Maki Roll. Kaito even protected her from being the blacken in the fifth trial.
When I listened to this song (this is my sister's favorite song), it sorta reminds me of Maki x Kaito.
