NOTE: THIS IS A THEORY ONLY AND NOT CANON!! I CAN BE WRONG ABOUT THIS!!

Ever since Gabriel reappeared in Devil's Bargain, I have been thinking about it.... and now I finally got it.

I have discovered Asmodeus 'dirty secret.'

Okay, here I go

Okay, here I go.

We all know that Gabriel (the poor thing) is still alive but, sadly, imprisoned and mutilated in Hell by (most likely) Asmodeus.

Everybody also knows that Gabriel is an Archangel and more powerful that a Prince of Hell like Asmodeus

Everybody also knows that Gabriel is an Archangel and more powerful that a Prince of Hell like Asmodeus. After all, Archangels existed before the universe itself and in the Supernatural universe, the power of beings appear to be determined by age - hybrids like Jack not counted.

So it wouldn't make much sense for Asmodeus to capture Gabriel in a seemingly 'ward-less' room... right?

Well, I've been thinking about it. I firmly believe that Gabriel faked his own death in Hammer of the Gods, but that he became weakened and got captured by demons/Asmodeus - there also is the possibility that Gabriel's cell actually is warded, but with invisible warding.

And the Archangel Blade? My guess is that it's either an error that they look different or that there are simply more than one Archangel Blades. After all, four Archangels and four Archangel Blades would make sense to me.

My guess is that Asmodeus has been taking some of Gabriel's grace/power. This would weaken Gabriel - making it easier to lock him up - and it would make Asmodeus stronger.

After all, Lucifer has revealed that he never gave Asmodeus a shapeshifting ability, but we all know that Gabriel can change his vessel's physical appearance at will - thus shapeshifting.

And remember the scene where Asmodeus first appeared? When he killed those demons at once, that light and their burned out eyes, it looked suspiciously like an angel smiting to me

I have put a video of that scene below. The 'angel smiting' is at 1:10 minutes.

And below is an angel smiting by Castiel for comparison.

I admit, if you compare the two you would see that an angel smites with a bright white light and that Asmodeus' 'smiting light' is more yellow-gold like

I admit, if you compare the two you would see that an angel smites with a bright white light and that Asmodeus' 'smiting light' is more yellow-gold like. But keep in mind that Asmodeus is not an angel like Castiel, so it would make sense if it looked slightly different.

The end result is the same though; burned out eyes and dead demon.

I have to say that I don't exactly like the idea of Asmodeus' tapping off Gabriel's grace, but it would make sense with an Archangel being imprisoned like that and Asmodeus having those non-demon powers.

What do you guys think? Do you think I might be right or do you have a theory of your own?
