It uses tercets: three line stanzas.
It is a interlocking pattern.
Pattern is "ABA BCB CDC DED"

Example:

I spot a cute otter,
With a brown shiny coat,
Just playing alone in the bright blue water.

Then appears a goat,
Chewing on a cowboy hat,
Just floating on the river in a small boat.

Now there is a cat,
Avoiding getting wet,
Laying asleep on a very comfy mat.

I better call a vet,
To help these animals in need,
Or even better yet adopt them as a pet.
