Polyjuice Potion is a very complicated potion that allows the drinker to assume the form of someone else. While it can account for both age and gender, Polyjuice Potion cannot be used for a human to take an animal form or for a half-breed to assume human form.
Noticeably, the Polyjuice Potion was used many times in the events leading up to, and during the First Wizarding War, although there are no documented instances of it. Polyjuice Potion is among the products sold by the Apothecarium of Horace E. F. Slughorn.
Preparation
Independent of its actual brewing process, the Polyjuice Potion requires a good deal of preparation prior to making it. For example, the lacewing flies must be stewed for twenty-one days prior to making the potion, and only fluxweed picked at the full moon is acceptable. The total process takes approximately one month to complete.
Part 1, step oneAdd 3 measures of fluxweed to the cauldron (must be picked on a full moon).
Add 2 bundles of knotgrass to the cauldron.
Stir 3 times, clockwise.
Wave your wand then let potion brew for 80 minutes (for a Pewter Cauldron. A Brass Cauldron will only require 68, and a copper one only 60.)
Part 1, step twoAdd 4 leeches to the cauldron.
Add 2 scoops of lacewing flies to the mortar, crush to a fine powder, then add 2 measures of the crushed lacewings to the cauldron.
Heat for 30 seconds on a low heat.
Wave your wand to complete this stage of the potion.
Part 2, step oneAdd 3 measures of boomslang skin to the cauldron.
Add 1 measure of bicorn horn to the mortar, crush to a fine powder, then add one measure of the crushed horn to the cauldron.
Heat for 20 seconds at a high temperature.
Wave your wand then let potion brew for 24 hours (for a Pewter Cauldron. A Brass Cauldron will only require 1224 minutes, and a copper one only 18 hours.)
Part 2, step twoAdd 1 additional scoop of lacewings to the cauldron.
Stir 3 times, anti-clockwise.
Split potion into multiple doses, if desired, then add the pieces of the person you wish to become.
Wave your wand to complete the potion.[1]
Harry sat there, reading over and over the copy of Advanced Potion making, but no word seemed to interest him any more.
The fact that Luna Lovegood's father was in the same time as Harry's or the fact the He, James and Snape were in the same group didn't seem to shock him very much. He was used to it by now. But that fact that Fleur was Dumbledore's daughter or adoptive daughter, did seem to interest him very much. He couldn't help but think that Dumbledore had lied to him all along. But then again what was Harry to Dumbledore? A stupid student, perhaps?
Yesterday, after Lily had announced the groups, James had dragged Harry's group to a corner had had begun giving out work. He looked unwillingly at Snape, who had the same I-don't-want-to-be-here look. But that fact the Lily was in the same group as His seemed to make him stay put.
Harry had to copy down all the ingredients required to make the Polyjuice potion, Snape had to hunt down the ingredients required (which Harry was supposed to tell him) and then tell Lily, James and Fleur to bring them. They were all so eager to do this that Harry couldn't help feel discomforted. What's so much important? He would think over and over again.
They had decided so far (With James and Snape arguing again and again) that the Quidditch tryout's are to be shifted to Thursday and every Friday they would assemble in the future Divination room. Whereas the second group would come here on Thusday and do their extra practice. Sat & Sunday both the groups had to make Liquid Luck together. So Harry had all his Thursdays, Fridays and Sat & Sundays busy for half the year.
He quickly scribbled down all the information he could find about Polyjuice potion, and re-checked it once more. Then he quickly slipped the paper in his pocket and began making way towards the Gryffindor common room. But through all the way Harry couldn't help but wonder:
"What had Happened to Fleur Eliot/Dumbledore?
Why hadn't Harry ever seen her before?"
