As it gets closer to Christmas our time in Florida winds down. We had done interviews and met up with other professional hockey players. The NHLPA has a meeting and discussed the future of this hockey league. It wasn't a very good meeting, for there was no new news to report, but it was nice seeing all the hockey guys around. We spent a lot of the rest of our free time in Disney and got to see everything there is to offer. We went to all the parks and I spent more money than I ever wanted to in one place, even if it is Disney.

And before we left I had one specific request. I wanted to take Alyssa and Tristan to the beach because if we went to the one back home right now it would be more like the polar plunge than a day at the beach. Tristan has been  wanting to swim in the ocean and I wanted to spend what would the last of one on one time with Alyssa at peace.

So we head down to the beach and find a nice spot to set up. I get Tristan covered with sunscreen and his floaties on. He didn't like to swim so I know he wouldn't go out in the deep part of the water, but I still wanted him in floaties in case a wave takes him. He plays right in front of me on the wet sand while I finish getting set up.

"Can you help me out" Alyssa asks after I finish getting the umbrella in the ground.

"Sure. What can I..." I trail off. I look up and swallow hard.

She tries to hand me some sun screen but I was absolutely frozen in my spot. I try to move but I couldn't, my muscles felt so heavy.

"Woah" I whisper and she laughs.

"Do I need to ask someone else to put sunscreen on my back" she asks.

"No" I nearly yell. "I mean... I can do it" I assure her.

I take the sunscreen from her and pour some in my hand. I rub my hands on her bare back as I massage the lotion into her. My fingers dig into her skin as the lotion disappears into it. I feel each of her muscles and softly massage them as she starts to relax into my hands.

"If you don't stop that I'm going to make you start giving me massages again" she threatens.

"I wouldn't mind" I admit.

"Don't tempt me" she threatens.

I get her all done and she helps me out too. After we were all set I toss the sun screen in a pile with rest of our stuff. I turn to Alyssa who was watching Tristan play.

I go over and pick her up before throwing her over my shoulder. She lets out a squeal as I get a good hold on her legs. She holds on to me tight so she won't fall and I start to jog into the ocean.

"Duncan Keith you put me down right this instance" she yells.

"Never" I yell back.

Tristan comes out and starts to jump up. He puts his hands up towards me as he smiles big.

"I fly, I fly" he insists.

So I pick him up with my other arm and walk all of us in to the water. It was pretty cool but it didn't bother me much. I take ice baths so this was nothing.

"Throw me" Tristan's demands.

"I can't just throw you into the ocean. The sharks will get ya" I tease.

"No sharks" he cries and I laugh.

I set him down and he runs back to the shore where he figured was safe. He starts to dig in the sand and keeps himself preoccupied like the good only child he is.

"Will you put me down already" she asks.

I drop her so she was off my shoulders but still in my arms. I hold her bridal style as she wraps her arms around my neck so she could hold herself up but she weighed practically nothing anyway.

"Tell me that you love me or I'm going to throw you into the water" I threaten.

"Nope" she smirks.

"Say it" I insist.

"Never" she claims.

I act like I was going to drop her but end up catching her before she gets in the water. She lets out a giggle as she holds on to me for her dear life.

"Okay! Okay I'll say it! I love you" she laughs as she looks up into my eyes.

Both of our smiles fade as as we realize no one was messing around anymore. That this was real life and what she said meant a lot. We always talked about how we still loved each other but neither of us just outright said it. Well until now.

I softly set her down in the water but keep her in my arms. She holds me close as she looks up into my eyes. I grab her face as she looks at my lips. She looks back into my eyes before shaking her head and walking backwards.

"I'm sorry" she whispers.

"Sorry for what" I ask.

"For everything.

For things not being how we both wish they would be. For telling you I love you and meaning it but it not meaning anything. For being selfish and wanting to be around you but not wanting to be with you.

Should I keep going" she laughs.

"No. I think you're good" I assure her.

"I really am sorry. I wish things were different" she sighs.

"Yeah Lyssa, me too" I agree.

We stand there for a little before Tristan's comes splashing over. He attaches to Alyssa's leg as his curly brown hair stuck to his forehead.

"Save me from the shark mommy" he yells.

"I got you baby" I say as she picks him up. She throws him above her head and he lets out that healthy laugh. I smile as I watch her play around with him. He has never smiled so big in his life.

She was just as important to him as she was to me. In his mind that is his mother, and it's not much of a decision to him.

After playing in the sun we decide to go take refuge in the shade. We pull out some food and eat sandwiches and chips and juice boxes. I look over at Alyssa as she helps Tristan out.

"How long have you had abs" I question.

"I'm not really sure how that happened. I haven't worked out for a while but I'm really into cooking healthy food" she explains.

"Can I hire you to make me some food" I question.

"Fifty dollars per meal" she smirks and I gasp.

"Damn" I laugh. "You're tough."

"You know I would do it for free" she assures me.

"Don't tempt me" I tease like she did earlier.
