Duncan
"I'm going to my room" Tristan yells as he runs in and out of the boxes on the floor. I close the door behind us as he looks around the new place.
"Do you even know where that is" I ask.
"The biggest room" he claims and I laugh.
"I think that's your mom and I's room. How about you have daddy's old room" I ask and he taps his chin.
"I want Jonny's old room" he insists and I roll my eyes. I swear that man is corrupting my kid.
I walk him upstairs and to the first door around the corner. Jonny wanted that room because it was the closest to the stairs in case of a emergency and it was close to a bathroom. It is always something with that guy.
"Alright, so what do you want in your room" I ask as we look around. The only thing in there right now was a bed and a desk and unopened boxes.
"Hockey" Tristan cheers and I smile.
"I figured that much" I laugh. "How about we set it up like the locker room? Your bed can be the locker and we can get the Blackhawks emblem on the floor. We can even get mini sticks set up in your room" I tell him and he lights up.
"I'm never going to leave my room" he claims and I laugh. I feel like he's not joking.
After messing around in his room we go downstairs to start unpacking down there. I find Alyssa in the kitchen with all the pots and pans figuring out where she wants them to go. She starts to put things away before I go over and distract her from being productive.
"What are you doing" she asks as my fingers dig into her sides. I pull her body against mine as she smirks up to me.
"Well I was supposed to be unpacking, but now I'm just admiring my beautiful fiancé" I explain.
"Cute, but we still need to unpack" she reminds me.
"Orrrrr" I trail off.
"Or what" she asks.
"Or we can break in the new bed" I smirk.
"Your kid is here" she reminds me.
"He's in his room on the other side of the hall" I explain.
"We still have stuff to do" she insists.
"Is one of them to make love" I smirk and she giggles.
"Later. Let's make our home then we can break it in" she bargains.
"Fine" I sigh as she laughs at me.
She finishes up unpacking the kitchen and I put out the few things we needed for the living room since the furniture was already in there. The only other things on the first floor was the washing machines and a storage room so it was all ready to go.
Finally we get to the fun stuff upstairs. There was four bedrooms up here. Tristan is in Jonny's old room and the babies room would be in my old one. Then Alyssa and I would have Sharpys old room.
The way that this house has molded four of the really good players on the Blackhawks is kind of crazy. I mean Brent and I bought this when we got called up after the lockout in 2005. So from 2005 until 2009 this place was our home. Patrick and Abby have been together since they were in college and stayed together throughout his entire career. Sharp got traded here in 2006 and Brent invited him to come live with us since we had enough room. We gave him and his girlfriend the big room and this started the trio of me and Brent and Sharpy. I met Alyssa later on in 2005 and started dating around Christmas time. She moved in the next year then Jonny joined us in 2007 when he was called up.
But then Brent met Dayna in 2009 and Patrick and Abby were set to get married in 2010. Alyssa and I could have really used our own space so in 2009 we all went our separate ways. It was hard, we all loved each other and we had so many great times in this house, but we were growing up which made us grow apart.
But now we're back, and I was here growing my family. I couldn't imagine being anywhere else really.
"What are you thinking about" Alyssa wonders.
"I've missed this place" I admit.
"Yeah, me too" she smiles.
"Is everything put away" I ask.
"For the most part" she admits.
I suddenly pick her up and she lets out a squeal. I easily contain her before tossing her on the bed. I climb on top of her as she starts to laugh. I move the hair out of her face so I could look down at her as she smiles up at me.
"Ugh you're the worst" she whines.
"Is that so" I smirk.
"Yeah" she nods.
"And what are you going to do about it" I ask.
She suddenly pulls me down before pressing her lips to mine. Her nails dig into the back of my neck as she pulls me closer. I feel the little baby bump meet my stomach and I start to smile. It wasn't much but it was there.
"Mommy" a little voice calls out and we reluctantly break apart.
"Shhh" I shush. "Maybe he won't find us" I whisper.
"That is your kid" she giggles.
"He probably just wants something out of a box. He'll find it" I insist.
"Mommy" Tristan calls again and I let out a sigh.
"You're going to see what he needs aren't you" I ask.
"Of course I am" she smiles.
I climb off of her and she gets up. I follow her down the hallway and into the room where the baby was going.
"What's up baby" Alyssa asks as she picks Tristan up. She places him on her hip as he looks up to him like she looked up to me.
"When is my brother or sister getting here" he asks and she smiles.
"Not for a while" she explains.
"But I want her now" he insists.
"What makes you think it's a girl" she wonders.
"I just know" he shrugs.
"Aright. Well I promise you that when the baby gets here you can play with it whenever you want" she says squeezing his side making him giggle.
"Okay" he cheers.
She sets him down and he runs off to play with Mogali in the backyard. It was a bit cold but there was snow back there and he loved the snow. We watched from the window in our room and smile as big as ever.
"This is going to sound crazy, but I'm kind of happy you had a baby with Melissa" she claims and I turn my head.
"I'm sorry, what" I ask.
"If it wasn't for that we would have never had Tristan. And that would be a real disservice" she admits.
"Yeah. He's pretty amazing" I agree.
"I think he's this fiery version of you and it's kind of the best thing ever" she insists.
"Looks like I did something right."
