Stan Lee wrote a lot of comics that went against what a lot of people were doing. He almost made Harry from the Spiderman comics have a drug overdose. He also hated sidekicks and made full teams and any sidekick he did make, like Bucky, usually got their own comics and became a hero or a villain.
