The first Human Torch was not Johnny Storm. The original Human Torch was an android designed by Phiness T. Horton. When exposed to air, the android burst into flame. The android later took on the name Jim Hammond and worked as a police officer during World War II. There is a training ground for the Initiative called Camp Hammond which was named in his honor.
