MADISON
I can still feel Andrew's cold lips on mine when I return back to my hotel room. I can't believe he would kiss me, and tell me he loved me, right after his wedding. His behavior was irrational and I'm not sure if I can blame it all on the liquor. Maybe he does really feel that way and getting drunk made him confident enough to say it. I don't want to think about it.
The first thing I do is grab my phone and dial Kaiden's number. I haven't heard from him in a while and I have to tell him about the kiss.
He picks up on the first ring, letting me know he was probably waiting around by his phone.
"Hi, baby. How's the wedding?" His voice is deeper than usual, the way it usually sounds when he's just woken up.
I put him on speaker and sit down on the edge of the bed to undo my heels. "It was fine until Andrew decided to get drunk and tell me he loved me."
I brace myself for what's coming because I know Kaiden's not going to be happy with that. And I'm right. I hear some fumbling on the other end followed by, "He fucking did what?"
"He told me he loved me. Like, who does that after their wedding?" I rummage through my suitcase, looking for my pajamas I packed.
"Well what did you say back?" He asks.
I roll my eyes even though he isn't here to see it. "What do you think I did? I told him I loved him back and now we're planning on running away together. I'm calling to tell you goodbye."
"Madison, this isn't funny." He states, clearly agitated.
"I'm kidding, Kaiden. He was wasted so I told him I would talk to him when he's sober and in the right mind. And don't worry, I'm going to tell him I am not interested in loving him back."
I find my shorts and t-shirt and toss them on the bed. Unzipping this dress is going to be a pain in the ass.
"So that's it? He just told you he loved you and then left you alone?"
Shit. Here comes the storm.
"Not exactly. He also kissed me, but don't worry, I pushed him away." I rush out before he gets the chance to have a stroke.
"What the fuck?" I hear him exclaim, followed by a bunch of commotion.
"Did you throw something?" I ask, crossing my fingers that he didn't, and if he did that it was something not breakable.
"No, I'm getting my shit together. I'm coming there and I'm beating his ass."
I know he's telling the truth because I hear the jingle of his keys, followed by the sound of a door slamming. He's moving fast.
"Kaiden, you don't have to do that. I handled it. I made sure he knew there was no chance of him and I happening." I finally tug the zipper down and manage to get the dress off.
"I don't give two flying fucks, Madison. He kissed you and told you he loved you. I'm not okay with that and please don't ask me to be. What would you do if the roles were reversed?"
I hear him get in the elevator and I sigh. He's right, I would be furious.
"I just don't want to cause a scene. And I think he's left already for his honeymoon." At least that's what I'm hoping.
