"She killed a guy??" Melina repeated shocked still not believing after hearing what Emily told her.
She was about to leave her home when she opened her front door and found a red eyed brunette. Emily had cryed all the way, not caring about the starres and whispers from other people.
People who wasted their minutes to talk about the girl who was crying but not taking one second to ask if she needed help.

Emily didn't even speak, her throat hurted from the sobs that had escaped her mouth minutes ago.
She just nodded slowly looking at the floor.

"And her father an-and Ethan just kept quiet? What the hell-" Melina was more than shocked to be honest. She wanted to say things, things that would probably make Emily feel even worse and maybe make Alison look bad.
Emily was still silent, starring at nothingness.

Melina felt heartbroken at the sight, she swallowed the stuff she had to say, she moved closer to her bestfriend on the couch and hugged her tightly.
"I am so sorry Emily."

"A-And the worse..." Melina heard the low voice coming from Emily's trembling lips,
"The worse is that I left her there. Broken. When all she needed was me to hug her and tell her everything would be fine."

"Emily," Melina turned Emily's face gently to her, those beautiful brown eyes filled with regret,
"It's normal that you needed space too. You needed to think. This is something really...unexpected. And I'm sure Ali needed some space too. I'm sure it wasn't easy neither for you to hear it and for her to tell you about it."

Maybe she was right.
But Emily still felt that the only thing she wanted to do was to run back home and hold the blonde in her arms.
"I need to go back." Emily said as she started to stand up again.
"You sure? You want me to drive you?" Mel asked her, standing as well.
"I'm gonna say yes to both." Emily gave her a small smile.

Back in their apartment, an empty bed was now to be found. The blonde who had been laying there crying her eyes out for the last 3 hours had found the strength to stand up.
Only to go grab a bottle of vodka that they had in the kitchen, a gift Melina had brought to celebrate Emily's new job as a couch a few days ago.
The job that the brunette was so excited for, and now it isn't even on her mind.

The bottle was practically empty by now, Alison was still conscious but weak.
It was shocking that after all the crying, she still had tears rolling down her face.

As she was sitting on the floor with her back against the couch and the bottle still in her hand, she heard the door open.

She felt so numb that she didn't even bother to look up, maybe because she didn't even have the strength to.

Emily entered the house with Melina behind her, the view they had from the living room almost brought Emily to her knees.
She felt responsible for it.

"Ali..." Emily said in a whisper and started walking towards the blonde, kneeling down in front of her.
The blonde sniffled and brought her hand up to her face to tiredly dry it from all the salty tears.

"Baby, what did you do?" Emily asked softly, taking the bottle from the blonde's hand, which didn't even fight back and gave it to Melina who went to the kitchen to put the bottle in the trash.

When brown met blue, Emily felt the urge to kiss Alison, tell her she was sorry and she forgave Alis for what happend and that it wasn't her fault.
But the blonde spoke first, her voice hoarse from the alcohol,
"Vodka was easier to swallow, than the fact that you weren't coming back."
Emily's heart broke a little after hearing those words.
