The same day:
Kenna's POV
Here he was, looking at my bald self with a soft expression on his face, at around eleven p.m. in my hospital room.
Isn't he supposed to be at home?
I couldn't move. I didn't want him to look at me like this, but here he was anyway.
I cover my face as soon as I'm in a state to move.
I guess he runs up to me because he's holding me in an instant.
"I'll give you two some time," mom says, and the next thing I heard was the door open and shut.
Tyler wraps his strong arms around me and pulls me closer to him.
I refused to show him my face.
For the first time, I want to hide my face from someone.
"It's okay, Kenny, let go," he coos in my ears.
No, it isn't okay.
He doesn't say anything.
Just being there, wrapped up in his arms, made me calm down.
I pull away from him with my hands still covering my face, and he lets go of me.
He attempts to move my hands away from my face and succeeds.
He holds my hands in his and says, "Hey, you're still my pretty Kenna."
Note to self: He called me his pretty Kenna.
At this, I look straight at him. Into those blue eyes, which seem to turn darker every second.
"Don't ever cover your pretty face," he says, never letting go of our hands.
I look at him blankly.
What could I even say?
"Are you zoning out again, Kenny?" he asks in an attempt to make me smile.
And I do.
"No, I just didn't know what to say," I croaked, sounding like a rusted trumpet.
He flashes his gorgeous smile at me, and I feel better in an instant.
"So you still want to hang out with me tomorrow ?", he asks.
I look at him, surprised that he still wants to hang out with me.
"You still want to hang out with me?" I asked nervously.
"Yes, why not?" he says, making a weird face.
"I just thought you didn't want to hang out with me anymore," I reply, shrugging my shoulders.
His mouth opens in surprise, but he doesn't speak a word.
"And why would you say something like that?" he asks, sounding mad at me.
"Um, because I'm bald now?" I say, looking deep into his eyes.
Oh boy.
If looks could kill, I'd be six feet deep in the ground. He gives me the iciest glare I've ever seen.
Oops.
I blink several times in an attempt to avoid the tension between us.
He places his right hand under my chin and wraps his left arm around me, pulling me closer to him.
"I would love to spend every minute with you, Kenna; I don't care if you're bald, pale, or whatever, because I..." he stops suddenly.
He looks into my eyes. They are less attractive than his, but he gazes into them, making my knees go weak.
