Moving On

Chapter Eight

True to his word 20 minutes later Brandon came home from his bike shop and Corey had to leave for the mission that was taking place later that night. I haven't been on a mission in so long, or at least a real mission that the guys took on. With that being said I was curious on what kind of mission they were going on. Corey gave Brandon a quick pat saying bye and gave me a hug before leaving.

"What kind of jobs do you guys typically do?" I asked.

"We're similar to the Blackbourne team in a way. While they do more reconnaissance jobs we specialize in extraction. With Corey we can do recon work as well if needed but we have more members that are brute force. Whereas the Blackbourne team has members like Victor, Kota and Luke that do better at observing. Silas, North and Nathan work well with extraction due to their size but also fit in with recon as well." Brandon explained.

"Where do I fit onto the spectrum. I helped with the Ashley Waters case but that was mainly by accident most of the time. And then there was the kids in the shed and the time that Luke took me to go retrieve a camera. I did well with those."

"I can't really give you an answer right now. We'd have to see you in action before making any judgement. Dr. Roberts gave us any files the Academy had on you. From what I can tell from that is that you're more of an all-arounder. You do well with any task that you are given but have your limitations. You'll never be able to do some of the stuff that brute force members can do and it will take you sometime to understand the mechanics of tech data." I sat down closer to him as he went on. "And given your ghost bird status you are a high contender for covert ops and undercover jobs, which of course you will not be doing anytime soon given your condition. I'm sure if you wanted to Axel can get you a job with us that isn't too high stress."

"Really? Is it going to be a stake out job? That was the only thing they would let me do when I completed my training and even then they had someone looking over my shoulder and doing my work for me."

"If you want to continue with jobs after your pregnancy then you need to get some experience in. Of course you'll be getting easier jobs now than you would later on but at least it's something." I threw my arms around him into a hug.

"Thank you so much." I breathed into his neck. He tensed for a second before relaxing again.

"It's no problem Doll. I'll talk to Axel when they get back." he replied patting my back. "What do you want to for the time being?"

"We can make brownies and popcorn and watch a movie. I was supposed to do a movie marathon with the guys for the Fast and Furious series but then..." I trailed off.

"Well you're in luck. That just so happens to be one of Marc and I's favorite movie franchises. We're sleeping at yours so you'll be more comfortable so head on over first and I'll meet you there." I nodded and left the apartment. I quickly changed into more comfortable clothes for the movie and began to get out the ingredients for the brownies. A knock on the door rang out minutes later. I opened the door for Brandon. He brought over a small duffel bag and had already changed into sweatpants and a black t-shirt. I let him drop off his stuff onto the couch while I began the baking.

"Is there anything that I can help you with? I might not be the best at cooking but I can follow orders."

"Um... Can you measure out 1 cup of sugar, a 1/2 cup of flour, a 1/3 cup of cocoa powder and 1/4 teaspoon of salt into a bowl."

"What's the salt for?"

"The salt helps enhance the flavor of the chocolate. A little bit makes the brownies even more rich." I explained while mixing up all the wet ingredients. Stepping closer to Brandon so our sides touched I poured my mixture over the dry ingredients.

"You might be better are mixing this up that I can." I said glancing down at his biceps, which he instinctively flexed. Without further prompt he took the whisk out of my hand and began to combine everything together. I pulled out a baking pan and coated it with butter and cocoa powder. By that time Brandon was nearly done with mixing, which was a lot faster than what I would have done. I poured everything into the pan and putted it in the oven.

"That has to stay in there for around 35 minutes, so while that goes we can make some popcorn and start the first movie."

"Perfect. I'll go put the first one in. Are you good to make the popcorn yourself?" I nodded.

I grabbed two bags out from a cupboard and popped one in the microwave to cook. When that was done I put the other one in while I put the first in a large bowl and repeated that with the second. By that time Brandon had already had the movie going and other trailers were playing. I set the bowl on the coffee table in the middle of the living room and went to grab a blanket from my room. I plopped down on the opposite end of the couch as Brandon and relaxed as the movie started. I got so immersed the the action that I jumped when the alarm for the brownies went off. I got up to remove them from the oven and placed them on the stove to cool for a bit before going back to my spot. When I rejoined Brandon I couldn't seem to get comfortable again and kept fidgeting. Brandon noticed and would glance my way every so often before he had enough. He pulled my legs so they laid on his lap and so I was now parallel to the couch. It was so similar to before I couldn't help but to be comfortable. As the movie played he rubbed soothing circles on my leg.

By the time the film was over, I figured that was enough time for the brownies to cool down and brought us back each one and boxed up the rest of them for the others. We rejoined in the same position for the next one. The next movie was intense but not enough to keep me awake. I tried to fight the sleepy haze that was washing over me but it had won. I could feel Brandon shift to turn off the tv and clean up a bit before lifting me up and carrying me to my room. After tucking me in he moved away but I reached out to tug on his arm.

"Stay." I mumbled out.

"I'm just going to turn off the lights Doll. I'll be right back." I nodded and let go. The room went dark and the bed dipped down a second later from his weight. An arm draped over me and I fell into a deep sleep.

Hello! Finally an update! I hope you guys liked this chapter. Sang and the Toma teams relationship is going to start to pick up after these next 5/6 chapters. Sang is going to get some one on one time with each boy so that's going to help with their development.
