Tonight is finally the big night, Shawn's fourth album release party.

To say he was nervous was an understatement, tonight all his friends and family would be hearing the new music for the first time, including his girlfriend. He hadn't played the new music for anyone besides his crew, claimed he wanted it to be a surprise for everyone. No matter how many times she begged to hear anything, even just a preview, he told her that it was a surprise.

Now tonight is finally the night, and she is over the moon excited. She wore her new black dress that made Shawn go nuts, and for once she was feeling confident with herself. As the couple sits in the rental car, hand in hand, thumb soothingly rubbing across his knuckles to ease his nerves, she couldn't wait to hear the music he's poured is heart and soul into over the past few months.

"Shawn?" Andrew snaps the two out of their thoughts, "Are you okay? You've been awfully quiet this whole time."

Shawn nods, never looking away from the window. "Just nervous," he muttered.

Andrew shot him a look, knowing fully well he didn't see it, then moved to her, "So Y/n, are you excited to hear the new music?"

"Yeah," she nodded excitedly, "He hasn't let me hear anything, not even a little preview."

"Well It's no secret that most of the album was inspired by your relationship." Andrew commented, glancing at Shawn who was still uninterested in the conversation.

She couldn't help the blush that spread across her cheeks, "If that's the case, I'm very honoured."

For the first time during the whole ride, Shawn looked over at his girlfriend and pressed a soft kiss to her temple.
"Believe it babe, you're my muse." he grinned.
The rest of the short ride was spent in mostly blissful silence, the only exception was Shawn's quiet humming to whatever tune was playing on the radio. She felt more at peace knowing he wasn't as nervous as before they left their home, he was less tense and even scooted over to be closer to her.

The remainder of the drive passed by quickly and before they knew it, they had arrived at the small, intimate venue Shawn picked to have the party. He only invited close friends and family, and as Y/n looked around the parking lot, she noticed that everyone was already here and Shawn would be the last one to arrive to his own party.
"Was everyone supposed to come here earlier than us?" she quietly asked, nudging her boyfriend's shoulder. "It looks like we're the last ones to arrive."

Shawn's head snapped up in confusion at her comment but looking around at the familiar cars parked, he slowly realized that they were in fact late and his gaze turned harsh.
"We're fucking late." he cursed, hand breaking free from its tight grasp on hers. "Maybe if it hadn't taken so long to get that damn zipper zipped and you hadn't taken so long in the bathroom we would be on time."

She watched with wide eyes as he caught up with Andrew, who was walking a few feet ahead of them with the rest of the crew, and started complaining about how they were late? Was he really blaming this on her?
His comment shocked her. He knew she was struggling with her body image for years now, and just when she was finally gaining some confidence back, he had to ruin it.

As the group made their way into the venue, Y/n began to second guess herself. Maybe she really did take too long to get ready. She wouldn't be surprised, everything always seems to be her fault nowadays. On the night where everything needed to be perfect, she just had to go and screw it up somehow.
Standing just outside of the open doors, she noticed that the room was already packed and people were starting to look rather impatient as they waited for the guest of honour to arrive. Shawn emotionlessly looked back at her, almost like he was saying "this is all your fault" before walking into the room with the rest of his crew following.
