Prologue: Escape

Screams filled my ears as I frantically fought my way through the halls. My bag on my shoulders and my clothes on my back being the only necessities as I reached the door.

Sunlight streamed in and for the first time since I was little I reached for the sky.

Outside my ride waited. Two other kids, younger than me, piled in and I with them. The police car pulled off and we marveled at the sites we had only seen in pictures.

Hours later, the officer left us in front of the orphanage, and I vowed at that moment that no matter where I was sent, or how this life was, I wasn't going back.

Never would I surrender my life to experimentation so easily.

Never would I be trapped.
