Ava woke up around 5:30am to her father screaming at her from outside her door.
"Get the hell up you useless whore!" He yelled at her.
She groaned as she got up, slowly walking to her closet and picking out a pair of black leggings and a maroon colored sweatshirt, slipping it on as quick as possible. Ava usually wore clothing that didn't show much of her skin because of her bruises and cuts her father would force upon her. She grabbed her brush and put her long brunette hair in a braid that went off to the side of her neck.

Ava walked out of her room quietly trying not to draw any attention to her. Her father was sitting on the sofa with a beer in is hand and the T.V. on loud. As she grabbed her backpack he saw her arm and got up.
"Hey my love, you know, daddy's feelin' a little special right now." He said putting his beer on the counter and walking towards her. She dropped her backpack in hopes it would be easier to get away.
"Daddy... i'm gonna be late for school." She said quietly.
"No, it's okay ." He responded and grabbed her shoulders lightly bringing her over to the couch. She flinched as he slammed into her, making small squeaks and whimpers as he thrusted harder and faster. Ava looked up at the time, and It read "6:00am"

She pushed him off of her and grabbed her backpack trying to rush out the door in time to maybe catch the bus. Her Father grabbed her arm and turned her around slapping her multiple times before holding her neck in a tight grip. When he let go she rushed out the door, almost tripping on the step down of her house.

Ava got to school just in time to see the Detectives setting up their presentation. A brown haired woman stepped out of classroom just as Ava was about to step in, but she stopped just in time.
"Sorry." Ava said as she stopped dead in her tracks. The woman could hear the tears in her voice and turned to look at her. Ava's red eyes stood out to her, as well as the newly developed red spot on her neck, and face.
"Oh honey, what's wrong? what happened?" She asked. Ava didn't know how to respond to that question, she also wasn't ready to respond to it. So she said the first thing that came to her head.
"Nothing, im fine." She said as she wiped the tear from her eye. The lady tried to put her hand on Ava's shoulder but she quickly flinched and moved her shoulder.
"Sweetheart, I'm Olivia and I want to help you. But I can't help you if you don't tell me what's wrong." The way Ava flinched showed Olivia everything, she knew she was being abused.
"Well Olivia, i'm fine. Now please, leave me alone." Ava said
"Honey, I know you're not fine. You just showed me when I put my hand on your shoulder. What happened?" Olivia said sternly. Ava broke down sobbing and that's when she knew there was no going back. She went to hug Olivia and cried more into her shoulder.
"It's okay sweetheart, it's okay." Olivia cooed into her ear. Finally Ava could form words and her tears subsided. Olivia got down on one knee and whispered to her
"Did someone hurt you? do they abuse you?" Olivia whispered as she placed a hand on her arm. Ava nodded as another tear fell. Olivia wiped the tear away and drew Ava into another hug.
"Is there a place you would feel more comfortable talking about it?" Olivia asked quietly. Ava nodded and they walked to the Womens restroom. They walked into the handicap stall and Olivia asked again,
"What happened, who did this to you?" she asked quietly kneeling down to her level
"My dad... he abuses me... he um, hits me, and slaps me." Ava says lifting her sleeves, revealing some scars as well as multiple bruises. She also moved her braid to the other side, exposing the handprint around her neck.
"Honey, im so sorry for what he did to you. I need to bring you to our precinct to get more information so we can put your dad in jail."
"No! please. he, he's all I have, I don't have any family or friends, who will I stay with? please you cant take him away."
"I need to know your name then, so I can check on you. I also need to know where you live so I can make sure this doesn't get out of hand."
"i'm Ava Barns and im not telling you where I live." Ava says trying to walk out.
"Ava, please let me take you to our precinct where you can be safe. You can stay in the cribs." she says trying her hardest to persuade her into going.
"what are the cribs?" Ava said confused
"its a room with a bunch of beds, basically where we sleep when we don't go home."
"Oh... fine. i'll go, but please don't leave." Ava said wiping her eyes with her sleeves making the color of her sweater a slightly darker shade.
"I wont sweetie." Olivia said and smiled. they walked out of the restroom with Olivia's arm around Ava's back.
