Chapter 30: The Potara Are Put To Use Again

Everyone looked over as around Zamasu (who was back on his feet now), a brilliant pillar of white light burst up. Zamasu was looking towards the sky and howling as he held his right arm out. It began shaking as if it was having a spasm. "What is he doing?!" Goku exclaimed. The aura around Zamasu dispersed and he held his arm towards the sky. "Light of divine justice! Strike at me now! A cowering god who appeases evil can never prevail!" In the clouds above, a large pink oval of light appeared, and then tens of them did, spreading out across the sky. A maniacal grin was on Zamasu's face as lightning bolts all crashed down from each and every oval of light, with every blast hitting him dead-on. His right arm began shaking even more violently, until finally it grew and grew, becoming more and more muscular and grotesque, eventually ripping the arm's sleeve to ribbons and becoming extremely oversized. 

The group watched from afar, all of them surprised- except for Gowasu, apparently. "What's happening to him? Why doesn't his body regenerate like it did before?" Vegeta wondered aloud. "Zamasu's body has indeed become impervious to permanent damage." Gowasu said, and as everybody looked towards him he faced them, "But Black's has not." "And half of this combined Zamasu came from Black. So the part of his body that is vulnerable to attacks must be affecting the part of him that's not. Is that what you're saying?" Gohan summarized. Gowasu nodded. "Mm. If this internal conflict is disrupting his regeneration, you may be able to win. I'm saying it's possible, not guaranteed. It would require an attack far more powerful than anything you've managed to unleash so far." Goku seemed to get an idea. Meanwhile, Zamasu finished transforming. His feet hit the ground and so did his now-enormous right arm, which slammed into the floor while made into a fist. As Zamasu began standing up more straightly, the aura of Black's Super Saiyan Rosé form surrounded him. 

Vegeta began trying to move like he was attempting to stand up, when Gohan seemed to catch on to his father's idea: "Wait a minute. An attack way more powerful than anything we've used so far, huh? What about..." He and Goku locked eyes, and their expressions brightened. "The Potara!" they both exclaimed. "What?" Vegeta asked. Goku looked at his fellow Saiyan. "You heard us. You and I are gonna fuse, just like them." Vegeta's eyes grew huge and he had a shocked look on his face. "Excellent idea!" Supreme Kai exclaimed, "I thought you ruled that out." "Damn right we ruled that out! There's no way I'm doing that again!" Vegeta declared. Gohan frowned at the Saiyan Prince. "Vegeta, please. If you and my dad combine your power and fuse, then your strength would be off the charts! That's exactly the kind of power we need if we want to beat Zamasu!" Goku nodded. "Yeah, Gohan knows it, just like everyone else, and so do you. Come on, you've gotta admit I'm right about this." Vegeta gritted his teeth, still looking extremely reluctant. "Trunks, you still have those Senzu Beans?" Goku asked. "Yeah. Here." Trunks replied as he reached into his pocket and pulled out two. Goku took one and popped it into his mouth, crunched it down, then shot to his feet. "Alright!" he exclaimed. Supreme Kai held out the earrings. "Good luck." the god said. Goku took one earring and fastened it to his left ear, then held out the other earring towards Vegeta. 

"It's now or never, Vegeta!" He dropped the earring into Trunks's hand, and Vegeta stared at it as if debating whether to put it on or crush it. Goku turned towards Gowasu. "There's something I've always wondered. When we fused last time, the Kais said it was permanent, but we split apart after some time anyway. Why is that?" Gowasu thought about it for a moment. "I'm not entirely sure, to be honest." he eventually said. Supreme Kai appeared to know, however: "It must've been the fact that you went inside Majin Buu's body! The strange conditions must've forced you and Vegeta to split." Goku nodded. "Oh, I get it." Gowasu still seemed to be wondering about something. "That does make sense. However, there is one thing I must caution you about." "What?" Goku asked. "If too much energy is spent while fused, it may possibly force the fusion to split back into two beings." Gowasu cautioned. Goku nodded. "Got it!" He turned towards Vegeta. "Well? You wanna stop Zamasu once and for all or not?" Vegeta looked towards the ground. Goku held up a fist. "Ahem!" Vegeta squeezed his eyes shut and grimaced. Goku looked completely exasperated. "Oh, come on, Vegeta!" "Shut up! If you say one more word then the answer is no!" Vegeta exclaimed. He stood up, grabbed the earring from Trunks's hand after eating the Senzu Bean Trunks was holding, the put the earring onto his right ear. "Damn it all." he muttered, "Fine! Let's just get this over with quickly." The Supreme Kai's Potara earrings (which were yellow instead of green like the ones Zamasu and Black had used) glowed on either Saiyan's ears as they stood next to each other. "Here we go!" Goku said. "Hmph!" Vegeta grunted. A blinding light obstructed everyone's view for a moment (including Zamasu's), until the light died down and in the spot where Goku and Vegeta had been there was now a glowing white pillar. A voice like that of both Goku and Vegeta's speaking at the same time could be heard exclaiming "Alright!" and in front of the pillar of light a figure could be seen leaping out onto the top of a wall which was part of the destroyed building Goku had crashed into. 

The pillar died down and details about the figure could be seen clearly now. His body was built like that of Goku's, and he also had Goku's jawline. He had Vegeta's sharper eyes and his hair was reddish brown. His upper hair stuck firmly upwards like that of Vegeta's and he had Goku's hairline, along with two bangs of hair that stuck out from the rest in somewhat of a downward "V" shape. On either ear was a yellow Potara earring. He was wearing Goku's martial arts uniform with a few differences: the Turtle School symbol was gone and the color scheme was reversed, meaning the outer part was blue while the undershirt was orange. The sash, however, had stayed blue. He also had Vegeta's gloves and boots. "And who are you?" Zamasu asked. The figure spoke and once again his voice was like both Goku and Vegeta's voices speaking at the same time: "You two doubled up so we did the same. Y'know, just to play fair! We're a merged fighter, the combination of Vegeta and Goku: Vegito! And here's something new..." Vegito raised his fists to the sides of his body and smirked as he leaped into the air. His smirk transformed into a shout as he powered up and yelled "Vegito BLUUUUUUUUUE!!!" Vegito transformed, going Super Saiyan Blue, and his aura alone created gusts of wind. Zamasu clenched his teeth. "You may be more powerful, but you're still not a GOD!! Nuraaaaaagh!" He charged up a Holy Wrath using his mutated arm and threw it at Vegito, but it was stopped and destroyed by Vegito with only one hand. Zamasu's expression became one of utter shock. Vegito looked down at his opponent and smirked. "OK. What do you say we wrap this up?"
