A hidden survival

Chapter 26

"Akane." His voice, calm and different, deeper. Akane gazed at him, his blue eyes remained, not really vampire. Yuri gripped her shirt tighter, snapping her from her daze. She hid back her staff, "Mika? What are you doing here? Don't you know it's dangerous?" She blurted out.

"For who? I'm the monster they are talking about." His eyes were blue, not red, but the attire is the attire of a noble vampire. He seems to be in pain as he was breathing heavily, clenching his hand which is placed on his heart. Akane steps forward, "Mika, are you -" He shifts back, "Stay away." He said forcefully. Akane frowned in confusion, he back away some more, then make a run for it. Akane ran after him, "Wait!" she was falling behind with Yuri on her arms.

"You're a witch!" There was a man's voice from behind, oh no! Akane turned and people started to surround her. She shifts back and fell upon tripping over by a leg that mischievously stretch out. She tightens her grip on Yuri and whisper, "cas amo shield." When someone threw a rock, it was reflected off by a transparent barrier. "It's really a witch!" A village woman points and shouts. The rest were cheering, "kill it!" Akane immediately chanted a sleeping spell on Yuri.

Another rock hit her head, it scratches the surface, making the skin bleed. Suddenly, something white appeared in front of her, "Drink my blood." he commands, vines from the  sword poke into his skin and blood transported to the sword, making it glow red. Everyone shifts back, "It's a vampire!" He raises his sword, with a cold tone, he said, "Merciless creatures." Akane stopped him by holding his arms, "Don't hurt them!" He stops and frowned angrily. By this time, the people who were just loud and confident became soft and timid. He lowers his sword. Akane picked up Yuri who she left on the floor earlier. Mika swiftly lift them up, carrying them and jump from building to building.

Akane placed the girl down gently on the ground, removing her jacket and cover her as she sleeps. "I'm sorry." A droplet dripped onto the floor. Mika eyes widened, even back then, she did not cry easily. Akane covers her red eyes from view.

They cheered those words in front of her, she is just a child... Yet, I could not protect her from it.

Mika was not responding, his breath becomes strangely heavy. Akane asked, "Mika, are you alright?" He warned, "Don't come closer." She looked at him, is he mad at me after all?

There was no movement at first. Suddenly, she was pushed down, his eyes starred at her bleeding wound. His fangs revealed themselves before piercing into her neck and the smell of blood filled the air.
