When you want to write a novel or any kind of story, the typical system of "What is my story about? Who is it about? What will happen?" are pretty much the worst thing you can do.
Writing is far simpler than that. Ask yourself:
Who is the character?
What does the character want more than anything?
And how can you prevent them from getting it?
