"Dominique's Song"

....the intrigue of tragic self-destruction.

Visions of Athena's commanding poetry,

Titania's indomitable spirit,

Echoes of Ophelia's lingering melodies

Riding high upon the wings of mythical Muses;

The beauty of the soul,

The strength of the heart

Is born of unrestrained freedom,

Designed to create rather than destroy.

What use is the power of inspiration

If one's only ambition is to set the world ablaze

In a final, grandiose gesture of rebellion.

Love and destruction are not one in the same, even

As under a raging storm,

Trees proudly bear flaming leaves in fruitless consummation.

Beneath the living sky, your emerald eyes ignite,

Wildly intense, unexpectedly compassionate

A last gesture of surprising, unspoken poignancy.

The words you give live far beyond the heart that receives them.

It is a silent mist upon the gentle crunch of leaves.

Love sings in liquid tones, in thundering roars,

In verdant cries,

Seeking only itself in its own vision,

Our vision, consumed in dramatic immolation.

There is a single moment of perfection, and

The world fades into a picturesque tableau

Of immortality.

This is my poem for you,

Written from the heart, and

Inked upon unwitting strands of light.

I am abundance, unwilling to let you

Fade into simple oblivion.

The earth is my soul, and your song

Always my solace.

Long into the night, the memories play

Across the ghostly silence of apocalyptic

Pandemonium; reed flutes echoing

The sad, fragile longings of a child.

Take this tranquil night, and meet me there;

Let the tumultuous waters blend

Not unlike the rain and the sea.
