Ch 6: Bonding

Today was just another day at my office in Tsukauchi's division. I was organizing clues to put together a string of assaults happening in the same place.

"So at 11:37 p.m., every night there is someone who is assaulted at this particular bar. And..." I trailed off, discussing the clues with myself when I failed to notice the person sneaking in through my window.

"Hey."

"Holy...! Jeez, Shouta. You scared me!! What do you need?" I asked.

"Nezu told me we can take a day off, so Hizashi suggested we go out for food and stuff." He answered. He was dressed in some casual wear: a white dress shirt, black trousers, and dress shoes. His hair was tied up in a half-bun. Which I thought was.....good-looking.

I shook my head. "I still have to work on this case Tsukauchi gave."

"He said you can work on that later, and you of all people have to relax." Shouta retorted.

"Even if I wanted too, I'm still in my work clothes." "We brought you some to change into."

Shouta shoved a bag toward me and told me to go change. I looked at him skeptically and went to the bathroom to change. I pulled out the clothes: a pair of high-waisted ripped jeans and a black crop top. I put them on and met back up with Shouta. We walked out of the building and went to meet up with Hizashi. 

Walking on the sidewalk, I chatted with Shouta. "So, Shouta. Tell me about yourself."

"No."

"Why?"

"I don't feel like it."

We finally met up with Hizashi outside a...cat cafe? "Why a cat cafe?"

Hizashi whispered in my ear. "Shouta likes coming here for the cats."

"Really? Then maybe I can bring him here one day. They seem to offer discounts to recurring customers." I whispered back. 

"What are you guys whispering about?" Shouta asked.

We froze. "Nothing!"

We entered the cafe, and I was greeted with a plethora of cats. I kneeled down and petted all the cats. One with grey and white with dark grey stripes rubbed up against my hand and my heart melted. I picked it up in my hands and cooed. "You're so adorable!!!"

We were all guided to a table and sat down. A man came with menus and waited for us to take our orders. 

"I'll take a medium cappuccino and your signature sandwich!" Hizashi ordered.

"I'll have a large black coffee and a croissant." Aizawa requested.

"I'll try your green tea frappe and an English muffin," I asked.

The man wrote down our orders and collected our menus, walking off to prepare our meals.

"Why did you ask for a breakfast item? It's 2 o' clock." Hizashi questioned.

I answered. "I haven't had breakfast or anything to eat since early yesterday."

"I should be the one concerned (Y/N)..."

The waiter came back with our orders and gave us the bill. We began eating, and I tried starting up a conversation. "So, I don't really know anything about you guys. Care to share anything on yourselves?"

Shouta shook his head. Looking at him, Hizashi sighed and looked at me. "Well, I have a lot to share..."

While Hizashi was talking about himself, I was petting the cute cat from earlier. I laughed at his jokes while Shouta looked on.
