Ch 12: We Meet...

"What do you mean by that face you're pulling!" Nighteye said menacingly, walking up to Izuku as he backed away. "Are you aware that I am All Might's former sidekick?"

"Ah-! I-I...!" Izuku tried to say.

Nighteye prodded and tugged at Izuku's face. "All Might doesn't have wrinkles like these! For his normal face, the wrinkles beneath his eyes are 0.6 cm! And from the silver age on, 0.8 cm!"

"H-hold on...!" Izuku looked around, seeing all the notes and articles on All Might, even special items that no one else has.

(A/N-Let me explain; All Might was an agent that worked with the police frequently, and he tended more to the public rather than keep his identity as an agent a secret, which gave him the title 'The Symbol of Peace'. That's how Nighteye has all this stuff. It was hard to think of a system where agents could still be well known in the public, but I hope this suffices!)

"How utterly offensive...I'm afraid I must ask you to leave..." Nighteye told Izuku. 

 Izuku stepped up from his stupor and spoke up. "'The Vinegar Suicide Incident'...are you not aware of it?" 

Nighteye seemed to recognize what Izuku was talking about, and turned back to look at him. Izuku continued. "A middle-schooler with a Quirk that could alter the properties of water was drowning in a river. That was the name given to the incident after All Might rescued them. The middle-schooler, who had entered a state of panic, changed the water to vinegar, but All Might jumped in anyway and suffered damage to his eyes. That smile he showed during the interview immediately afterwards, as he was squinting his eyes...that was the face I chose for my impression."

"Of course, I'm well aware. It occurred after I paired up with him, after all. The NHA television special 'Looking Back on the Old Days', touched upon it briefly. There were no villains involved, and compared to his accomplishments it was unremarkable...even on fansites, it would be seldom brought up, but I happen to really like it, so..."

"In particular, the line All Might said after the middle-schooler thanked him was incredibly witty..." Izuku said.

"'Don't mention it! Thanks to you, my skin looks ten years younger!'"

"Exactly! The 'precious skin' part was just perfect!"

"You little...were you testing me?!"

"Ah, not at all...! You see, the man himself is always around in HQ, so it's kind of hard for me to nerd out about him...so I just got excited and before I knew it...!"

"...The crux of that incident was the middle-schooler's background."

"Right you are! The weight of his words is completely different for those who know about it and those who don't...!"

Mirio and I walked over to the girl in the Tickle Hell machine, and Mirio took her out. "Mirio-kun, who is that?" She asked.

"He's an underclassman of mine, yes indeed! And this is his teacher, (Y/N)-sensei!" Mirio introduced. 

I waved to Mirio's friend. "Hi there!"

"Hi, I'm Bubble Girl!"

I chatted with her for a moment when Nighteye called me over to his desk. "Hello, Nighteye Sir. Did you need anything from me?" 

"You, Ms. (L/N)...you are to join this child if he gets my approval, correct?" Nighteye asked. I nodded.  He called Izuku over and talked to him. "So you wish to intern at my agency, in order to become stronger than you are now?"

"Yes! Please take me!" Izuku said with vigour. 

Nighteye pulled out a stamp and said, "The school contract printout-"
