I woke up to the sun shining through my closed curtains and onto my eyes. Groaning, I rubbed my eyes and got out of my bed. I walked out of my room and checked the guest room to see if Shouta was awake. He wasn't, so I walked to the kitchen to start breakfast.
I grabbed a few eggs, chopped carrots, and chopped green onions from the fridge and set them on the counter near the stove. I opened a cabinet and brought out some vegetable oil, salt, soy sauce, and Mirin. I opened up another cabinet and brought out a tamagoyaki pan, plates, and a bowl. I got chopsticks, a knife, and began cooking.
In a bowl, I cracked the eggs and added the salt, soy sauce, Mirin, and the chopped vegetables. I mixed it together with the chopsticks, then heated up the pan on the stove. I poured a little oil on the pan and tilted the pan to cover it with the oil. When the oil started to sizzle, I poured in a small amount of the mixture and waited for it to cook over. Once it was cooked partway, I took a small segment of the egg and flipped it onto itself, and repeated until I got a little prism. Then I poured some more of the uncooked egg and repeated the process until it was enough for one person. I took it out of the pan and put it on a plate, chopping it into small portions. I repeated the same process a second time for me.
I grabbed some sauce from my fridge and squeezed it onto the side of the plates. I placed chopsticks on the other side of the plates. I picked up both plates, one in each hand, and headed to the guest room.
I pushed the door open and found Shouta still asleep in the bed. I put the plates aside on a table and sat on the bed. "Shouta. Shouta, wake up." I said, lightly shaking him.
He groaned and opened his eyes, looking at me. "What time is it?"
"About 10 o' clock."
"I'm going back to sleep."
"Wha--Shouta, I cooked breakfast for us! At least eat that first!" I pleaded. He sighed and asked for the food. I brought the plates over and handed him one. He ate the egg rolls and I joined in.
"So, what are you gonna do today? It's Saturday, so you don't have work." I asked. Shouta looked at me, puzzled.
"Don't you have work off?" He asked. I shook my head.
"I'm on a personal job. I need to solve a case I've been holding off for three years." I told him. Not looking at him, I took his empty plate and left the room.
I washed all the dishes, put them away, and went into my room. I reached under my bed, and found a box labelled 'Do Not Touch'. I pulled it out and opened it, pulling out a thick notebook and several manila folders filled to the brim with loose papers. I held it all in one hand, and set it down on the desk chair, before putting everything on the desk away. I put the notebook and manila folders on the desk, sorting all the information out.
I turned on my computer and logged onto the internet. I had one mission:
I was going to find Akui, and turn him in.
~~~~~
(Five hours later....)
I have gone for five hours without rest, looking for details. I called previous allies and asked Tsukauchi for help, but their efforts were useless. They were only able to give details I already had.
Losing my patience, I slammed my fist on the desk. All my leads led to nowhere. But then I noticed something. The name of a place was being thrown around, and I had seen it in a recent case. The name of the place where someone is attacked every night.
The Midnight Bar.
Could it be just a simple coincidence? What if the guy attacking people is someone who knows Akui?
